A gorgeously refurbished centre with really sensible design- changing rooms right next to the pool, which, by the way, is super clean and a good temperature.

Thanks especially to Isabel who I talked to on the phone about a problem booking on the app. She handled it all really efficiently and booked me in for my swim tomorrow. She also solved all my appointments issues I've been having. Such lovely customer service, will definitely swim here again, and often!

I returned to the centre last week after a brief hiatus at a gym closer to home (BS7 Gym) which was not remotely a patch on the quality of service and facilities at the centre. The place looks a lot better and the range of classes has even improved, and the staff are friendly as ever. I get a little anxious and forgetful sometimes but the reception staff are always kind, helpful and non-judgemental if I have any questions.

Good vibes here. Great to be back. I actually can’t fault any of the instructors either. They are properly trained, focused on delivering classes or sessions confidently that empower and engage positively.

The new cafe is also brilliant.

I’ve been a member here for years. I left due to my financial situation changing but it was a fine gym, and the PT I used there was fab. Post covid it has become impossible to find anywhere in Bristol where you can turn up and swim. I thought a public municipal pool like Horfield would be somewhere you could turn up and pay to swim. Unfortunately you have to book 7 days in advance and via an app. This prevents people who don’t have smart phones and don’t have time to sit on their phone refreshing the app when the lane swim options come up 7 days in advance. (The wait list for these sessions is around 20 people long). It’s appalling and elitist to expect people to have smart phones to access a swimming pool. Just read that last sentence again. That’s the reality we are living in. It’s not a private health club, this is meant to be for everyone, all sectors of society. I can’t get my head around it as a business decision, morally or financially. Everyone Active is shutting people out of exercising when they should be making it as easy as possible. I hope they get bought out by a better company.

Centre is fab but cafe options seriously let it down. It’s largely junk food with limited nutritious options and hardly any plant based protein. ‘Healthy’ options are mainly carbs. Like something you’d find at a leisure centre in the 90s.

Price quite expensive. Gym facilities are ok, could do with more of the popular weight machines especially for peak hours. Swimming pool leaves a lot to be desired, its mainly for kids (school sessions majority of the day, then swimming classes for children rest of afternoon evening), so public swim adults are left with half at most. Considering the 6 million refurb a new pool should have been top of the list rather than a soft play for kids.

Spoke to an incredibly unhelpful member of staff on the phone while attempting to sign up for the listed adult swim classes. I may as well have been speaking another language, it also sounds like you can’t book a certain amount of lessons you just pay indefinitely and then have to ring your bank to stop paying?! Incredibly frustrating and inconvenient but having read the other reviews it sounds like I’ve had a lucky escape.

You’ve put gosh knows how much money into a refurb, all of which is completely pointless if the staff on the desk are as they were this morning. Man alive, they were so unfriendly. All we needed was to ask how to make our way through the barriers having prebooked soft play, and you’d have thought we’d asked them to head out to the car park and wash our car. What’s the point in working in customer service if you clearly don’t like customers?

Soft play was great though. Really well designed and accommodates parents the best we’ve experienced. Cafe staff were lovely too.

Went to use the Softplay for the first time yesterday, but was told we had to upload the App to get in. Which we did, but was very stressful and the lady on Reception made it very clear she was not going to help. She was not very helpful, was very dismissive and just didnt have a very good attitude towards customers. I have been in Customer Service for most of my life and it is my opinion that some Customer Service training needs to be provided to staff. The Softplay itself was nice and the cafe staff were lovely, so it was a shame.
