I’ve been waiting over a month for prescriptions to be added to my repeat. Requested by a consultant to Holmcroft Surgery to issue. These medications are vital.
The surgery haven’t done it, have denied me an appointment with a doctor to sort it out and reception aren’t prepared to resolve it.
Extremely upset, have been with the surgery my whole life. How has care changed so drastically.

If I could put in it 0 I would. I can and it's nigh impossible to get an appointment with my own doctor. The reception staff act like 'little' gods, are NEVER pleasant. I was on the phone for one hour for a single query whilst being told I was next In the queue.I
This used to be an excellent surgery but since Covid has vastly deterated.
The doctors are not to blame. It is the nursing and admin staff, who act as little gods. In short absolutely appalling
I am seriously considering moving to another pactice

Regularly miss medications of my scripts , patches never lets me book an appointment I'm 40 been reg at this surgery my whole life ... Last GP appointment I had the doctor was using Google and MDweb to diagnose me ... Does not fill one with confidence. I actually blame the government for lack of funding and all that ... Hope things improve.

Where do I start?
1st contact for 76 yo friend.
Can’t get an appointment with a GP, so had to go through ā€˜nurse practitioner’ to deal with balance issue usual thing that you’re talking to the ack of his head as he’s writing on the computer screen rather than talking face to face. When asked about the balance issue he said ā€œ what do you expect for. 76 yo?ā€ . Then said we could book a blood test at the reception., and gave us a form to do so.
Young man on reception didn’t know what he was doing and was not supervised. Said that we couldn’t book a blood test at the surgery, and to phone a Stoke number. Then said that there was a blood test nurse comes occasionally but he didn’t know when she would be there next. When I asked for more information he went into the back and came back and said that the nurse was in the following Thursday and so we COULD book a blood test at the surgery.

2nd contact
Friend had 2 missed calls from a nurse practioner on the following Wednesday and a text message to suggest that the blood test results were somewhat serious. Tried to return the call twice via the surgery on the Wednesday and Thursday, and was told that the message would be passed on, but no contact from the nurse practitioner until the following week.

3rd contact
Tried to phone the surgery as the balance problem was not being addressed and we wanted to be referred to the balance clinic at Stoke Hospital. First left a return service request as 21st in the queue, but I didn’t get a return call at all on that day nor the next. Phoned again and was 4th in the queue, but was waiting for an hour and 16 minutes. Went from 1st to 2nd a few times in the process. Booked another appointment for another nurse practitioner. When attended the appointment got another ā€œwhat do you expect at 76 yoā€ comment and the nurse practitioner had never heard of the balance clinic at Stoke hospital, so friend was left in limbo again.
I asked the receptionist for a complaint form and she had no idea of the complaints procedure, but just scrawled an email address for the trust that is operating this shambles of a surgery. Only 2.5 GPs in the surgery and more admin staff that practitioners. About time this place was shutdown as it is not fit for purpose in my opinion

Awful. Can't get an appointment, though that to be fair seems a national thing. Main issue is we registered in July, my wife had a prescription from the surgery, but trying to book another one in October, was told she was no longer a patient - she'd somehow been transferred BACK to our old doctors.

Will be moving from this surgery ASAP now.

I've given 2 stars because of the call back service so wasn't left hanging on the phone for ages. After calling the surgery with suspected shingles I was told I just needed to 'ride it out' and go to the pharmacy for pain relief. I did this but to the pharmacy in Eccleshall who could only recommend paracetamol. I phoned again the next day explaining I was in pain and again was told there was nothing they could do and to try and call on Monday morning. Thankfully, my paramedic friend told me about pharmacy first where I could get my shingles confirmed and be put on medication to treat it. I couldn't believe it when the pharmacy first was the pharmacy next to the doctors surgery. Surely reception staff need to be better trained. I was gobsmacked they didn't tell me about this service despite it being next door to the surgery

Attended today to see the nurse who was very professional and kind, she advised me to see the physio about my shoulder instead of a GP. I headed to reception, and got an appointment that same day. Very good and fast service by all.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Reception staff think they’re gods gift, rude and unwelcoming and put the phone down. I asked for a late appointment at 8:01am due to working and they booked me in at 9:30am. Not a brain cell between the lot of them.
