What a fabulous day at Hever Castle! We had the advantage of a sunny day but oh my the gardens are just exquisite. We went boating on the lake, walked around the lake, wandered through all of the beautiful different areas of the gardens - my favourite being the roses. Then we went into the house with the free audio guide. This is a very special place even without the amazing history.

Been here a couple of times, this time was just to visit the gardens. Rather pricey to get in, we bought a ticket on line but this still cost nearly £20 each. The gardens are lovely though and you can spend all day here. We just about missed the full splendour of the rhododendrons, they were still colourful but starting to come to an end.
The gardens have a variety of differing landscapes, from the formal gardens to the large lake to the wooded areas, you are usually guaranteed to find a quiet space even during the busy season. There is a small army museum there for people that like a bit of history.
The lake has a steam powered boat for those that would like a trip around it, or for those more active people pedalos or rowing boats.
There are lots of places to grab a drink along with some small takeaway vans for ice creams or crepes. Then you have a main place that sells sandwiches and roll along with cakes and drinks . You also have a table service place next door for bigger meals . Again the prices are high ( we had two drinks , two rolls , two packs of crisps and two cakes and it came to £30) , but all these places are the same, I would suggest buying some picnic food and bringing it with you otherwise it will be an expensive day for the family.
Talking of family they do have a play park for the children and also a maze by the house. There was also archery. If anyone wanted a go as well as a kids water feature which looked fun.
I can't comment on the castle / house as it's been a long time since I went in it.
I would say it's probably one of the best kept gardens in Kent if not England and worth a visit if you have never been.
Parking is free which is a bonus too.

The most beautiful grounds and gardens I’ve visited. Far exceeded my expectations expectations. Lovely spot to enjoy a picnic, enjoy the boating lake and generally take in the views of this stunning venue! Really loved how well kept everything is. Went early at opening and had a peaceful quiet stroll before the busy crowds. Buy tickets in advance for cheaper rates. Will be coming back! My labubu also enjoyed her day out. 10/10.

I visited Hever Castle and Gardens yesterday with my wife, and it was truly a delightful experience. The castle is rich in history and beautifully preserved, offering a fascinating glimpse into Tudor times. The gardens were absolutely stunning — well-maintained, peaceful, and full of vibrant spring colours. We especially loved the rose garden and the serene lakeside walk. It’s a perfect spot for couples or families looking for a relaxing and scenic day out. Highly recommended!

Beautiful castle and grounds. Great for a summers days out. If you have children come prepared with spare clothes so they can enjoy the water maze.
My youngest (4) had loads of questions and in one area a member of staff went out of their way to teach her boys about the castle - fantastic!

Super nice place to enjoy your Saturday. The grounds are stunning with beautiful gardens, ponds, a lake, some nice mazes and an interesting castle. Do spend your whole day here, as its definitely worth it. Bring your kids or dog(s), too! Spend some extra time admiring the ballerina roses, they're astonishing.

Our family had a great time at Hever despite some awful weather, I bet it's great to leisurely walk in nicer weather. The castle audio tour works well with a more child friendly option available for kids which is good. The grounds are beautiful and a pleasant walk around. There are a couple of mazes, one being a water puzzle type which is different. There is also a good sized play area and an exhibition for a certain army regiment ( I forget which sorry!) which has plenty on display. I thought the optional extra archery was quite expensive so we did not do that, I feel they would be more family friendly and actually make more money if it was cheaper? It was hardly used all day. Still, it was a great day out and I would like to experience it in better weather. We brought a packed lunch but a cafe is available.

Excellent place for a day out. I was actually quite at first to enter since the tickets on site are more expensive than buying in advance, but it was worth the price.

Very beautiful gardens with lots of manicured lawns and flowers, plus a historic castle of the world's most (in)famous mistress 😅
