I have been a registered patient with the University Health Centre since 2006 and am shocked to see the negative reviews on here. I cannot fault this health centre and the high quality of care I have always received from all the medical staff. I chose to register here because of the size of the practice, it’s opening hours and ease of access. I am not a student or in any way associated with the university, but live relatively close by. I have had continuity of care with the same GP (loveliest person in the world - listens and cares) and the practice has seen me and my family through all of our medical needs - including the birth of my child and ongoing treatment for various medical issues. The ease of access reduced somewhat during and after the Covid pandemic, but this is not a fault of the health centre but the fact that the pandemic laid bare the shortfalls and underfunding of the wider NHS.

I have been multiple times this past year and every single time all the staff have been really kind and helpful. They always see me in person within a couple of days and I tend to get a phone appointment on same day of calling!

I have been with this practice for over a year now and could not recommend it enough. They have always been so helpful and so quick and I always feel well looked after. Super easy to get quick appointments also!

unfortunately i can’t recommend this practice…the staff, nurses and doctors are generally lovely but it is so hard to get an appointment and even when you do they only give you phone appointments, i’ve never ever been given a face-to-face appointment (over 4 years) except for getting a vaccine…i also didn’t even know if i had an assigned GP as i just had a new nurse every time i had a phone appointment - overall, as a student, this left me feeling like none of them knew me personally or had the time to care / follow up on my mental or physical health challenges. not any individual’s fault but just thought it was important that people know what to expect here.

I'm really sorry to read the bad reviews on here. I've been a patient here for a year and this surgery is by far the best I have ever been registered with. Unfortunately I have needed to go to the surgery a lot over the last year, some quite urgent issues, referrals into other services etc and everything has been done very diligently and efficiently, with excellent communication throughout. I have found all the staff (reception, nurses and Doctors) to be friendly, compassionate and caring who have helped me through an awful lot. 10/10 service.

This practice is fantastic! I have been a patient here for more than 40 years now, and I have never received anything but kind and caring treatment from both the nurses and doctors. My own GP never makes me feel rushed, always explains and discusses treatment options with me, and could not be kinder. I have always found the reception staff helpful and accommodating. I just don't know who these people are who claim that the staff are rude/unhelpful etc. But some patients might like to think about how politeness and kindness are reciprocal.

I'm assuming other reviews are by freshers who don't understand how the NHS runs. This gp service has been one of the best I have been to and recommend to others, yes staff are busy but that's what the whole of the NHS is like, they're caring, calming and have always seen me when I've needed it. Joe specifically is a great nurse who's never let me down and has always been genuinely compassionate. Thank you for the great work.

Not great experience

Staff are over worked which means they dismissive, give poor advice and seem pretty institutionalised regarding the failing system.

I've literally had my time wasted everytime I have attended this surgery - either they've done the wrong test, or given me an appointment that's required a second appointment to then be told I need to go private for treatment. Absurd.
