My dad had dementia and was end of life.
He had an awful experience at the two hospitals he went to.
Coming to Hawthorne House for my dad was wonderful for him.
His own room a tv and home comforts.
All the staff from the cleaners to the staff nurse were kind and couldn't do enough for my dad and his family who visited him.The ward nurse Sandra was so kind and gentle to my dad.
She was amazing to my mum and me she couldn't help us enough.
She dealt with any worries we had over dad being end of life.Sandra was an angel and we thank her from the bottom of our hearts for all she did for my dad.The home is a calm and serine place.
Thankyou everyone who looked after me and my mum feeding us and supplying endless cups of tea to keep us going being with dad.

This care home is ok but needs better management, staff are ok but need further training. Nothing is written in my brother's file. No visits from any professionals like dentists, opticians, chiropodists etc. Nothing is noted about his care either or meds, my emails are not responded to.

I am absolutely disgusted with communication. I rang left several messages for managers to contact me regarding my brother..he was given no medicine when I took him day out even though I rang and asked Sidney Bailey too. Since then I had feedback that she treating him badly. The managers have not contacted me back this isn't the first time since this happened. I use to be contact with previous director who was taking all concerns seriously and investigated any injust behaviour. However since he has left the care home seem have gone downhill.

Be aware my friends. Please Do not send your loved ones to this care home. Actually the care home is very good, but the current agency is in contract with this care home that provides low quality caring to the client's. This agency is not providing proper training to their staff. From the first day of joining onwards the staffs from this agency is responsible to take care of client's without any training.

Some staff are excellent, however, many do not know their clients. Management really difficult to get in contact with.. It was really difficult to unit staff by phone, follow up poor. It took 2 days for them to notify me that my brother was in hospital. Fortunately, the hospital contacted me. Two pieces of gold jewellery that my brother permanently wore, disappeared, also his shoes. No action was taken by the home no apology was given.

My dad was in this nursing house for all of 41 hours in July 2022, before passing away and although the end result would have been no different the lack of care he received is shocking. He was admitted with funding for 1:1 care as an end of life patient terminal ill with cancer. I visited him on his last day to find him strapped in a wheelchair across his chest (apparently with a lap strap). He was alone and unable to hold his own body weight, speak or even lift his head. Following a safeguarding investigation I’ve been informed that the staff involved have left the care home and the nurse has left the country! The response from the home is that although they are not denying the allegations made they are unable to confirm them either as nothing throughout that day has been documented! It appears staff also document on other staff members name’s therefore they are unable to gather any sound information from the incident! I would never allow anyone to stay there again!! Disgusted care!!

Shocking place. They failed my poor dad on so many occasions. So much so I had to officially log complaints for neglect, abuse and theft. Even the staff know its bad. Some of the storys I was told directly from the staff made my blood curdle. Unfortunately we couldn't get him moved in time for him to spend his final days happy, safe and well looked after. I absolutely do not recommend this home. Please do not send your loved ones here.

Fantastic Home. Mother in law had dementia and was well looked after as the staff were so caring and helpful. They were always there to help the family with any problems. She had been in a few homes (which I wouldn't recommend). Its a shame all homes are not on the same standard as Hawthorne. Strongly recommend you have a look here first
