My Mother has been a resident here for a few years now and it's a wonderful place. She gets cared for by nurses that go that extra mile to be friendly and caring. There is a woodland area which is beautiful to take a walk around to get fresh air for both families and residents. I sleep at night knowing my mother is being cared for here.

My Dad was taken to the gardens Neurological centre in 2013 from having a serious bacteria infection, so this caused a serious brain injury, spinal cord injury and got cognitive impairment from this. He was there for 2 years.
We got greeted by Rita McCarthy- General manager of the Jacobs and Gardens and Rita Applin- clinical services lead of the Jacobs and Gardens.
We was promised a brilliant quality of care for my Dad, which we hoped it would be but this was all lies. They didn’t care one bit about anyone’s welfare and quality of care, all they wanted was the money. They promised physio everyday for 3 times a week for an hour but just about got 20 mins for 2 days a week. We spoke to Rita McCarthy about this as we wasn’t happy and all she did was come outside and say to my dad in a wheelchair ā€˜if you don’t like it here, you know where to go’ (pointing at the exit). Disgusting behaviour for someone who manages the whole place.
Dr Roberts was putting my dad in strong drugs so he was sleeping all day and couldn’t go physio as he had no energy, We wasn’t happy about this, so we spoke to him and he took us outside so no one could hear him and said to us ā€˜I’ll drug him up as much as I like’. This is a Dr saying this, someone you would hope you could trust. He was more like a murderer!
This is when we called for a meeting With Rita Applin and she stuck up for Dr Roberts and lied for him, she lied constantly in the meetings and was a bully like the rest of them.
The behaviour of these people in charge was so scary to know that my Dad was in their care. They don’t care about the patients at all which is so sad, there was other families who had the same experience as us.
Many Patients were just left alone when they needed 1:1 care and they were still getting the money from these people. Some of the staff that did want to help didn’t have a leg to stand on, they was either suspended or left because how badly they was treated.
Unfortunately there’s not many Neuro Rehabs in the country so they have a lot of patients go there, but if there’s one thing they need to do is get compassionate people to be in charge instead that actually care about the patients and
want to see the people get better. Not just for the money.
The trauma we had there we will never forget for the rest of our lives.
