The sport centre looks pretty grim from outside and definitely needs some money spent on it. However the staff were lovely, polite, welcoming and very helpful. The swimming pool and changing rooms were fine. The showers were perfectly acceptable although mine could have done with a new curtain. The big plus for me is how local it is and the cost, £2 a time pay as you go! Can't be bad, I am planning to go 3 times week and you do not have to book you can just turn up.

The pool is the only suitable place for children to learn to swim in the Cinderford area.
Buildings and wonky paving slabs don't seem to have been updated or had much maintenance since I learned to swim in the late 1980s.
No toilets available for parents or non-swimmers.
Shoes now have to be piled up in the entrance corridor before entering the changing rooms as there is no longer a vat of disinfectant for swimmers to wade through on their way to the pool.
Generally good feedback on the pool staff, but reception often out of supplies of swimming certificates/badges etc for weeks on end. Sometimes we receive a notification text message to inform us that swimming lessons have been cancelled, but we have also had several wasted trips with no notification to find a sign outside stating that the pool is closed.
It seems strange that the school seems to have found sufficient budget to cover most of the front of the building in a giant mural, while loose and crumbling steps and paving slabs present a genuine trip hazard.

Could be easily made better:
The water fountain has abysmal water pressure in the gym, you’re waiting for what seems an age just to refill.
A lot of the cable machines keep breaking, is it that hard to buy some decent cables and just replace the lot? The owners make enough money off us for the extortionate prices so they could at least give us some equipment.
Would also like another lifting platform, if one person is doing deadlifts I gotta wait around

Avoid at all costs!! This leisure centre is most run down place i have ever been to. Staff not attentive, most of gym equipment is broken, they overcharge you by around 40% compare to other gyms. Their referral program is inconvenient, staff do not respond to notes about gym when asked to give notes to manager about inventory (problem was not solved for around 4 months and still nothing done about it) if you really want to gain something, just go to different gym.

Experience:
Amazing atmosphere like, its too good to be true (Grey Scale hallways) Honestly some paint wouldn't go a miss...

really really really friendly staff, when you ask one of them to sign you in. They just look you up and down. Customer Service is defo on another level of politeness and enthusiasm.

Even put my thumbs up and smiled when I left and they just gave me a blank look and did not say anything.
VERY welcoming STAFF.

Honest review:
The gym facilities are alright, The Gym* in Gloucester is like £12 a month and has way more to offer.
This gyms £40 a month and its just not worth this at all, its just the staff for me I cant lie, allot of reviews praise there (PT) staff,
which I can understand PTs are helpful that's there job.

But the receptionist on the other hand. They just don't have enough enthusiasm or politeness when you walk through the door, its not very welcoming or friendly, its literally like talking to someone who has there back turned towards you.

However there is a male receptionist who will say "Cheers mate." As you leave the door, which is nice.

I am just speaking on behalf of my, Personal Experience.

Clearly they do not implicate social equality standards, meaning they treat each person differently according to the reviews other people have left.

Overall my personal experience has been far from great.
Would recommend a different gym for the price such as DW, which has both friendly and welcoming staff as well as friendly people who will happily assist you if you ask them nicely.

This gym on the other hand, people will simply ignore you. What a wonderful environment.

I go only for the squash facilities. There are 2 courts. The one has a door that doesn't shut properly, the other has a big hole in the wall and is missing some concrete or whatever. Both of these things aren't idea in squash. There's a light fitting on the wall in the viewing gallery that has a smashed bulb with shards of glass sticking out. The changing rooms and toilets are always locked so there's no access to that. The whole place could do with having quite a bit of money put into it for painting and decorating and fixing things properly, I get the impression management doesn't really care about it and just put money into the actual gym area. I'll keep going though as it's convenient and not too expensive

We use the Gym for classes but it looks a large gym with many treadmills and crosstrainers with quite a few cable weights machines and a large selection of free weights a mixture of old and new equipment love the hang bars and tyre flip area

Absolutely pathetic attitude from your staff this morning. Not allowing my 3 year old daughter to use your toilets as we were there playing a football match on the astro turf with our son's under 8s team and not using the leisure centre. It may not have been your problem that the changing room toilets were closed but would it really have been that much of a problem for you to let her, a 3 year old, use your toilet?
