We would like to review Tim Barker who works as a physio therapist in the musculoskeletal department as one of the best practitioners within medical care we have ever endeared.
The working conditions within the department are not safe or healthy for patients or staff. Notwithstanding the heatwave we are currently experiencing; but you would expect a hospital department to be fully ventilated. The staff on this ward deserve a pay rise to work in such unbearable conditions. Especially Tim Barker
Who delivered and superceded our expectations of what to expect.
I attended an appointment with my mother 1st July at 4.30pm. We were both feeling pessimistic about the appointment following the lack of care we received from a particular consultant.
However Tim went over and beyond his capacity to ensure me and my mum were fully informed and gave us many scenarios to consider.
He was so caring and supportive that we agree that it is necessary to reward his service with our review.
Me and my mum both agreed why do physio therapists not get the same praise in comparison to consultants and doctors.
On a personal note my mother is remission from a reoccurring tumour and throughout the years we have been dealing with the process, we can wholeheartedly say that Tim Barker gave the best service out of all the practitioners we have met to date

I had a blood test this evening with Sara Parr who was fantastic. She kept me calm and was very caring, taking the time to talk to me and check I was okay. Thank you Sara for looking after me.

Told by GP to go walking for URGENT bloods, it was 1830 when I left GP so called to make sure clinic was still open. Told by a male no walk in appointments left for the day, he said i would need to attend at 7am and check in, he assured longest wait if I turned up at 7am the following day would be 30 minutes. I arrived at 0702 and checked in but first appointment was 9am. I questioned this and a lady changed it so I would be seen between patients. It was me next then names started appearing before me. A male came into waiting area (the sane male I spoke to on the phone) and he said it would keep doing that until my appointment time... whynot tele that when I rang. I had to get to work and couldn't wait now I have to wait until 9th July! Shocking service

had a blood test the male nurse called Phil jabbed the needle in so hard it hurt and got no blood . Then he said well if u want test we need to keep trying. I asked if he could be more gentle he said it’s a needle it’s going to hurt which made me extremely anxious my record show I have needle phobia so would expect some compassion.I asked for someone else to do it he ignored me so I loudly said again then a lovely lady came over I had a panic attack she helped calm me and took my blood with care and compassion . Horrible experience but thank you to the female nurse for being so kind to me

Here's what to do if you need an emergency blood test.
1. Don't bother calling the hospital. They don't have a clue what's going on and will give you the wrong information.
2. Go there directly before 8am and go to a 'kiosk' which is an electronic machine which will give you a time (or not). Press the button on the screen.
3. If the kisok says 'No' just go home. Don't attempt approaching a human for help or advice.
4. Come back the next day (before 8am) and try again. Keep trying every day until the kiosk says 'Yes'.
Also be aware the parking spaces are the size of matchboxes.

Very helpful staff on arrival especially on the mri scanner they made me feel comfortable when I was a little anxious. Shame about the lady on reception B desk who had a very abrupt manor when my friend and i had clearly got lost.Maybe a job without people contact might be more for her.

Fuming!
I took my mother for an MRI this evening, as requested by a surgeon at the royal.

The lady asking the questions was lovely, but then a blonde female with a mask on that came out of the room (where they stay while conducting an MRI) and I tried to tell her that my mum has chronic pain and will need her legs raised, her reply was "we do this all the time!".

Yes, you may do that all the time BUT everyone is different!! That comment was VERY unhelpful!! And just like I knew what would happen, my mum comes out, bright red face and frowning, BECAUSE OF HER CHRONIC PAIN!!

I dont know if she was upset she was working late on a Sunday, but her comments were uncalled for! Instead, have a little think before speaking as you cannot treat everyone the same as everyone has different needs.

Sarcasm isn't expected when going to the hospital!!

I just wanted to say a Big THANK YOU, I truly believe the encouragement and support of The Derby City Early Supported Stroke Discharge Team really help me with my recovery after my Stroke, the team were very engaging ,very good listeners and helpful, if they were not sure they would ask and get back to me very quickly no question was stupid, each member from speech and language, stroke Rehabilitation Nurse , Occupational Therapists ,Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants really grateful for my team of lovely ladies who got me to were I am today, walking and talking like my old self before the stroke Xxx
