My sister and I are most grateful for the care received by our mother during her time as a resident at Eckling Grange.
Mum was confident when she entered the home that she would be spending her last days in good hands, and so it proved.
As well as being attentive to Mum’s needs, the carers always found time to engage with me and my sister regarding the ways in which those needs were met.

The loving care mum receives at Eckling Grange is truly wonderful, all her needs are met with care, love, and dignity. Her spiritual needs are met, this is crucial to her wellbeing.
As a family we are truly grateful to all the staff at Eckling Grange, but especially those who work in the Wing.

Staff and residents made my mother very welcome. We were reluctant to move her to a home but wish we'd done it sooner. She is happy and well looked after.

My parents were both at Eckling Grange at two different times, living in a bungalow in the grounds. When my mother developed dementia she needed to be accommodated in the main Grange building so she could receive constant care, as my father was unable to care for her. He too moved into the main building, and could visit mum (in the dementia wing) daily. In the last couple of years of her life mum developed ulcers on one leg, but despite being her husband of over 60 years, my father was not allowed to be present when her dressings were changed. To cut a long story short, dad eventually got very aggressive with the management (it's fair to say he could be rather stubborn) and demanded to be allowed to see the leg, as he felt there too much secrecy about it. When he did see it he was mortified. Gangrene had set in, the bones were exposed and the Grange had consistently failed to refer my mother to the specialist clinic that they had been told she must do, should problems develop with the ulcers. By the time this was discovered, it was beyond repair, and she had to have her leg amputated....she died two weeks later. During the majority of the time my parents were there, the grange was run by a female general manager who was dictortorial, rude and at times threatening and abusive, and was later dismissed (on the quiet of course) for her abusive conduct towards patients and staff alike. New management was appointed and the standards improved, but too late for my parents. Impeccably clean and lovely staff, but too much covered up my management to protect their 'Christian' reputation.

I have attended The Grange as a Foot Care Practitioner for the past five years. I visit some of the residents in the bungalows, and am responsible for the foot care in the wing.
Such a unique place, with a generous staffing ratio compared to a lot of other homes, ensuring a wonderful standard of care for the residents.
With thirty years care experience, this is the home that I would choose for me, should the occasion ever arise.
