Nice decor etc, but service was a shambles.||Instead of being guided to our rooms the receptionist just stood and pointed at the three different directions our party of five were meant to go in.||The Bar was 'fully booked' with all tables reserved. Blank looks from tattooed barman when we asked for drinks, as if to say 'can't you see we are fully booked?' The bar was almost empty. We felt guilty for troubling him.||Breakfast was Fawlty Towers. We booked as a party of five, but no five seater table was available. We waited for two to be pushed together and re-laid.||The first day we asked for de-caf tea and got de-caf coffee. We asked for toast and got four slices for five people. A full-English minus sausage arrived which nobody had ordered. Porridge was cold. Bacon was forgotten from two orders.||The second day was no better. ||Honestly, it's hard to remember service as bad in a 'posh' venue. We were glad we didn't book for dinner.

Beautiful surroundings, relaxing well set out and the staff were great. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely, Sunday lunch really nice. Had honeymoon there last year, came back for our anniversary, fantastic memories made on both occasions.

Very good hotel, room was very spacious, lounges are excellent. Grounds are extensive. Food was consistently excellent over 5 days. Service was very efficient and speedy.
A few things meant it didn't get 5 stars....whilst restaurant team are very efficient, they are a bit characterless; you have to queue at the bar rather than someone coming to take your order (unusual in a hotel of this calibre).

The grounds are well kept and the welcome is warm. The Hall is large, with lots of rooms to relax in and the main hall is beautiful and light with a glass ceiling and wide staircase. The room was beautiful with a lovely ensuite. They provide you with a small tube of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The only flaw here is they could use large refillable bottles to save on plastic waste. A body cream and magnifying mirror would also be very much appreciated.
We booked dinner here and it was definitely worth it. I'm not a fancy connoisseur but the meal was amazing with so many different flavours. The starter, main course and dessert were all delicious. Compliments to the chef.
We walked to the small lake in the morning. It only takes 10 minutes to walk around the water. It was beautiful in the sun with the autumn leaves. The ground wasn't too wet but walking shoes are recommended.
The pool is small but does the job. There's a large jacuzzi, steam and sauna room as well to enjoy.
The staff here are lovely. You get the impression they enjoy their jobs. It makes the hotel feel more personal and friendly.
They provide alcohol free gin, beer and cider which was good.

We recently stayed at the beautiful Doxford Hall to celebrate my husband's birthday and experienced excellent, professional and friendly service from the moment we arrived. All of the hotel team we met were wonderfully helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was large, comfortable, clean and quiet, perfect for us.|The food in the restaurant was outstanding.| A truly great location and a very special hotel.

We stayed here for a 3 night break with our dog. It was outstanding and revived our love of country house hotels. Our room was huge and splendid. The service exemplary and the food was good. The only disappointments were the bar which was rather plain and the breakfasts which were very basic. Freshly squeezed orange juice, live yoghurt and fresh berries would have made all the difference.

Beautiful building with amazing grounds and surroundings. Staff very friendly and helpful. Full use of spa and leisure facilities. Can’t find any faults with the accommodation. Stayed in the Coachhouse, very quiet and peaceful. |I would definitely recommend this place.

This was a present for our 50th birthdays and Silver wedding anniversary from sister and brother in law. This is a lovely hotel that has so much character and charm. Our room was big but cosy. The staff were welcoming and attentive. We visited the Spa every day which was a nice way to relax. The treatment was lovely and the ladies so friendly. The grounds are great to explore, although due to recent rain the maze was very muddy in places but we still made it to the middle. Good base as so much to do nearby. A lovely touch was the information sheet slipped under the door each morning really useful.
