On wednesday I was travelling to Darlington to see a relative, when I received a phonecall about a CT scan I had a week earlier. They informed me I had to go straight to the nearest A and E as I had an embolism in my lung. I was on my own and very shocked, I got to Darlington hospital and couldn't get parked, didn't know what to do. There was an empty space in front of the hospital and parked there. I went into the hospital and went to the mcmillan centre, burst into tears, explained my situation to the most loveliest lady (sorry if forget her name) she took me to A and E to sign in and sorted my car. She then came back to make sure I was OK, I will be forever grateful to her.
From that point I was in expert care, from the compassionate nurse who took my blood pressure, to the reception staff and other nursing staff in my care. I went for x_rays and CT scan. Then received my results from Dr Dimitriadis Konstantinos, he was the most caring and experienced doctor, he took his time, explained everything to me, informed me of what my plan was, answered all of my questions. Corunna Wong the pharmacist was also very kind and informative about my medication. I was there for about 6/7 hours, they kept checking on me, gave me a sandwich and coffee at lunch.
I want to acknowledge all of this first class care, especially when I was away from my own hospital and on my own. THANK YOU TO YOU ALL 🙏 warmest wishes Susan C.

I was recently discharged from ward 11 after quite a few days. I would just like to send my thanks and for this feedback to be shared with the relevant staff/departments please.

Would just like to say a huge thank you to A&E, Surgical SDEC, Ward 11, my surgeon Mr Gilliam, theatre staff, endoscopy staff and staff in MRI and ultrasound. I received such exceptional care and was treated so quickly. Special thanks to Mr Casans who showed great care and compassion and ensured I was fully informed at each step. This being my first time having an emergency admission and surgery was very daunting but I felt I was in very safe hands. More thanks to staff nurse Kia on Ward 11, ODP Matt and the two nurse practitioners and student paramedic I saw in SDEC. I will forever be grateful for the care you provided to me.

A great experience with my elderly mum in A&E today. She was met by lovely staff at reception, triaged and bloods taken within an hour then seen by a nurse and then a doctor on the gynecology ward within 4 hours. All staff were professional, friendly and caring and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you to Katie on ward 62. Great job! 👍

Had to visit CDU for an emergency appendectomy, was only 24 hours between calling 111 and being in theatre!
Staff were lovely, though the procedure was an emergency one, they explained what was going to happen thoroughly and I felt very well taken care of. I Was discharged the very next day and I'm now sat at home, happy to still be alive thanks to the expertise and prompt action of all of the staff who tended to me.
Thank you!

Thank you to some people who were fundamental in my recovery after suspected viral Meningitis I'm getting much better. Special shout out for Dr Ahmed of A&E who gave me the antibiotics that made me feel way better and helped Me out with my tachycardia, and the nurse who decided to put me to the bed in A&E even after many hours of waiting. Then the good news is that even if I had it chances are that is mild due to prompt response.

Thank you everyone

A 10 night stay in ward 32 after an admission through A&E. I’ve had my own awful experiences of this hospital but I can honestly say that the DRs, anaesthesia team, nurses and auxiliaries were superb & really looked after me when I needed it. There were some brilliant nurses and a fabulous trainee nurse who were so kind & caring. As I got better I didn’t need the same level of care & was left in peace to recuperate, which I appreciated. Discharge was a little slow but the aftercare put in place for me at CDU rather than community nurses was very much appreciated. I can’t fault my stay. Thanks to all

After a recent accident and admission to a&e via ambulance ,then admissions ward then ward 44 I have to say being a nurse for 40 years myself ,I was cared for excellently by all of the emergency services and hospital staff.
The ward 44 staff were exceptional, from cleaning staff to consultants ;not only was the ward spotless ,the staff were so professional and attentive to all the patients despite being extremely busy , they were kind, patient and friendly ,a real credit to their professions .
The nurses I have to say were exceptionally wonderful .
Thankyou to our wonderful NHS for looking after me so well

It is 5 .00am in the early hours of New Years Eve...
I have been here with my husband in Accident and Emergency since 8.30pm last night.
Would I wish for speedier treatment..absolutely...
However, I have to say that we could not have received more caring treatment from anywhere.
The staff are, without exception, absolutely wonderful....led by a brilliant A & E manager, who at 4 O'clock this morning made coffees for each of us ,while we are waiting to see the on duty doctor .
He provided us with a separate area to wait due to my husbands extremely compromised immune system.
Honestly, the staff at Darlington Memorial definitely get 10 out of 10 from me.
