-1 million stars. Atrocious place. After being helped by the early intervention team (which were so much better) I was plonked which this crappy place again. I didn't feel I had much choice. 6 months in between each appointment just to have the psychiatrist say there's other people to see. Cheers ears I thought I was one of the people who you are paid to help. He's now put me with a different psychiatrist who's given me a later appointment. End of April wonderful. Even though cromwell house said they'd try to give me an earlier appointment. Nightmare needs new drs with real qualifications not from Disney land.

Wanted to add my experience as it scared me when searching this place and seeing 1.3 stars. It's easy to leave a review when you've been screwed over, you don't really think about it when you've had an ok experience though so sometimes all the bad outweighs the good. I don't want to reveal anything personal but everyone I dealt with was decent and I've always immediately got through on the phone, never had problems like that. Had a very delayed start and some cancelled appointments but that's not their fault really, it's rough out here for the NHS right now. Glad the service exists for those that need it. I'm ultimately doing better and they're looking after me well.

(edit) Very unfortunate but the services has gone severely downhill in the last year or so. Appointments keep getting put off, took about a year to see a psychiatrist and I've not heard anything back, no updates on the personality disorder treatment that I'm waiting for... So sad and disappointing.

After having a particularly stoic experience from my last psych appointment years ago, I was pleasantly surprised! The guy I saw was lovely, made me feel like my struggles were valid and has lifted my hopes for my future. Got a long way to go still but I'm not dreading my next appointment!

What a joke of a place....they literally can't get anything right. They don't provide medication on time, despite ringing up and when they finally answer your told "we can't do anything at the moment the computers are down". If your in crisis and it happens to be a Friday your told "sorry were closing soon, nothing we can do, go a&e" ... the receptionist have zero communication skills and one in particular seems to have a major attitude problem! The people who work here are seriously in the wrong jobs! They don't want to help people, if anything they make you feel worse.
One psycharist told me "we don't like to diagnose people incase we get it wrong" seriously? Passed about from service to service to end up at the worst possible service in the UK. I could go on. If you get reffered here, be prepared to be fobbed off with anxiety and to become even more unwell.
Also becarful because the doctors will tell you one thing and then write to your GP something else. I get the feeling they don't want to help people but quickly rush you onto medication and if it doesn't work straight away they seem to get annoyed about it. This service doesn't want service users needing them. My Gp phoned Cromwell house 4x in one week to tell them they needed to urgently contact me. They didn't and I ended up at the crisis team at Salford Royal and only after them did the duty officer make contact, to offer pretty much zero help. Your told to keep in touch with the duty team and when you do it's like they look for the quickest way to get you to leave. I was once asked "do you feel suicdial" and before I could answer he said "only if you do ill have to keep you here, so becarful in what you say".
I've asked my GP for another referral but he said I have to stay here!!!. NOW I KNOW why there are so many deaths due to suicide!

If I could give 0 stars I would. If you ever get referred here for mental health help, please ask that you be referred elsewhere. These people do not want to help you, you are only a statistic and a number to them.

EDIT; Matthew Miller is a fraud who has no real intentions of helping anybody. Strung me along for a year and promised me help, only to offer me 1 medication and when that didn’t work he simply gave up trying. He also thinks all these 1 star reviews are funny, I brought up to him in an appointment that the reviews were shocking and he told me that another facility had better reviews and that he thought I would like them instead while laughing in a condescending way. Clearly there’s more at play here, I cannot understand how the doors to Cromwell house remain open. I can only think they like to keep their dirty past a secret. If you have the misfortune of attending this facility for mental health help, please leave a review and let the world know just how corrupt and mediocre this facility truly is. They always blame funding, but the receptionists don’t have a foggiest what’s happening half the time, you never receive letters, and the psychiatrists are borderline sociopathic the way they leave vulnerable people to suffer the way they do. Their only job is to help people, and somehow they manage to do the complete opposite every time. Don’t know how you all put your head on the pillow at night. Shameful. Would not be surprised at the suicide rates of this facilities past patients.

I have been under the care of Cromwell House some 18 years.. In that time I have seen many, many Doctors come and go. I couldn’t count but I remember the names of every one of them. In this 18 years I was fortunate enough to be treated by Professor Haddad. In my opinion Prof Haddad is one of the best Psychiatrists in the country. I do not have one single bad word to say about him and the care I received. Dr Haddad and Lesley ran a tight ship with Dr H treating people, and Lesley as his ā€˜Wing Man’ keeping him right.

One thing.. Back in 2005 Dr Gupta diagnosed me with Schizophrenia, I beg to differ… I do not confirm to labels, and being put in a ā€˜box of schizophrenia’

Now, there’s going to be some negativity in a clinic with so many patients. For example I had a ā€˜care worker’ come to my house to meet for the first time, and he came in whilst in his phone and was hyperventilating because he’d just won tickets for a football match with Key 103… I think he needed psychiatric help himself… I then Had a social worker called Anne, and she was amazing.. The amount of help I had from her was above and beyond such a lovely lady with great taste in music. There is one female receptionist who has a huge chip in her shoulders, and if she reads this, she’ll know what I mean. Gareth on reception is a very pleasant and empathetic guy, a credit to the clinic.

After seeing many Doctors, mostly a different doctor each appt since Dr Haddad retired, I feel that Cromwell house has perhaps gone down hill slightly. I don’t think it would take much to get the service back to its full potential, it just take a bit of effort.

I feel that a conservative 4 star review is fair.

Absolute shocking you genuinely need the help and all they do is make appointments 3 4,5 months down the line.
Also when you actually call them in a crisis they get someone to call back but never do absolutely shocking.

The only bad thing about this place is how under funded they are. The staff themselves are very helpful however the amount I see them is once every three months and that's astonishing. It's not down to negligence though, its down to not being supported by the government. I think people are too quick to put it down to negligence of their personal well being which is easy to feel, I understand that. The limited amount of time I have here is quality time and we do get down to the nitty gritty stuff, I just wish it was more frequent.
