I had a robotic radical Prostatectomy in June last year following a positive result for Prostate Cancer. The care I have received from the consultants, nurses and theatre staff was superb.
Post operation again the treatment I have received from all the staff have been exemplary, including the consultant Urology nurses and Urology Physio Samantha Head. I am very well that without all the staff who have been involved with my care I wouldn't be here to write this review.
Thank you everyone at Colchester Hospital from the bottom of my heart.

My wife was treated for a dislocated and fractured shoulder at A&E at Colchester Hospital on 28th December. We have nothing but great things to say about the hospital, and the staff - medical and support - really were amazing: professional, kind, reassuring and empathetic.
After-care follow-up by the Fracture Clinic has also been superb.
I know the NHS has received a lot of criticism mainly as a result of years of under-funding and under-resourcing, but it is hugely reassuring to know that when you really, really need it, you will receive excellent medical care - at least at Colchester Hospital.

Had the most awful experience in the maternity ward that four years later I still think about it. My sister had a baby boy in March 2020 and the staff were absolutely awful. Weren’t checking on her like they’re meant to and when a doc came in to get a sample from his foot for blood, kept pushing and pushing his feet to get the blood out and he was letting out the worst blood curdling screams. She was an East Asian lady with the worst attitude, as if we were a burden to her and I’m sure if we weren’t the demographic that we were, she would have been pleasant but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for us. When my sister cried seeing her child in distress we kept reassuring her in our own language even though we ourselves can see she was forcing the blood out of him far too forcefully and he was in so much pain, she didn’t reassure my sister, she didn’t ask him to hold him for a bit to console him - nothing. Instead, she turned around and asked us what we were saying and we genuinely were left baffled. What the heck has that got to do with her? We told her it’s not to do use her so not to worry and that was as pleasant as I could say it without erupting. She took her sample and left, no smile, no nothing it was an awful experience. The stats surrounding non white mothers and the treatment them and there baby get is awful, and my sister luckily left with herself and her baby but left with a lot of trauma and not just her but myself left with a lot of trauma and I wasn’t even the one meant to be ‘taken care of’ using that term loosely, by the maternity staff. Awful people, awful morals, awful treatment.

Cannot fault tonight's service. Seems a different world away then 6 months ago. Yeah things take a while. But the care my mum was shown was nothing short of magical. Especially by nurse Helen Seward. She is a shining light down here. So friendly and happy. She made our trip here. Ad amazing as it could be. Thank you Helen. You was a gift from the gods tonight.

Gynaecology Outpatients is poorly managed and poorly staffed across all disciplines. I have experienced a lack of compassion which only makes mistakes and delays harder to process as a patient. I hope they can improve in all areas in the near future.

I recently Attended the Emergency department 2 x a week apart. The Department is well set up and appears fully utilized by staff. The staff were pleasant and attentive despite the obvious delays because a single Emergency Physician was on site the entire stays, both times and my stays were 16-18 hours.
The physician was caring and supportive but also listened sincerely to my concerns. I underwent a battery of tests both emergency visits and diagnostic imaging staff were also pleasant, instructive and thorough in their examinations. Further, the busy emergency department physician ordered outpatient diagnostic tests at diagnostic imaging and these tests were booked in a timely fashion and results sent to my family physician in a timely fashion.
Thanks Colchester Emergency Department.
The staff from Paramedics to Emergency Physician were courteous and thorough through my entire experience(s).

Layer Marney ward is out of this world

They couldn’t do enough for my 93 year old granddad who’s on end of life, they are always asking do I need or want anything, I’ve been here 4 days now in his room, they gave me towels so I could shower, food and drinks.

I appreciate you all from the bottom of my heart, you all deserve a HUGE pay rise!!!
