Most dogs hate going to the vets but even when this guy had a broken leg and was sedated from pain meds, he would pull all the way there from the car, with his tail wagging, because he couldn’t wait to see them all again. If this doesn’t show how amazing their care and treatment of him was, I’m not sure what does. For such a small town it was a blessing to find a practice as professional and skilled as this one to perform his surgery, where you can truly tell how dedicated they are to their patients. The treatment he received from them is what is allowing him to live the fulfilled life he does now, which we weren’t sure was going to be possible. For that we are incredibly grateful and couldn’t recommend them enough.

Only put 1 star as this was the lowest option…!! Absolutely awful experience my 5 month old puppy went in and was diagnosed with hip dysphasia was rushed into surgery the following week as rob (the vet) stressed we only had a very short time frame to do the surgery due to his age… well this is where the nightmare started the vet cut his pelvis in the wrong place and wasn’t able to do the surgery that he needed so urgently which put this back a minimum of 6 weeks….!! The vet then went off sick with covid the very next day so in my opinion was he even well enough to do this surgery? And is this why this mistake was made?!
Then 2 weeks later my poor baby became very agitated and stressed being crated all day and night and still not even to have had the surgery that had been stressed he needed so urgently and was 6 weeks back than when we even first went and got the diagnosis!! which ended up in him having to be put to sleep 💔 leaving a huge whole in our hearts and our family 2 heartbroken little boys who have lost their best friend…. The vet Rob then didn’t take any responsibility for his negligence and just come with A-LOT of excuses when this should never have happened and if he wasn’t well enough to do the surgery then should have rearranged and I feel if that had happened my baby would still be here now full of life…..!!
Would not recommend these vets at all and don’t feel like they have the best interest of any animal and we as a family have learnt the hard way….!!

I can’t speak highly enough of Rob and the team at Coast. Our 8 year old Labrador, Molly is a bit nervous of vets but every effort was made to make Molly’s TPLO surgery for her ruptured cruciate ligament as stress free as possible for both her and us! Rob fully explained the procedure beforehand, we were kept very well informed throughout and given thorough instructions and advice when needed. Molly still has a way to go with her recovery but she’s back on 4 paws thanks to the knowledge and exemplary care of everyone at Coast. Thank you so much.

It was a big shock and heartache to realise my puppy has a knee problem and it still is but I m very thankful to Coast Veterinary Referrals where Rob, Meghan and Lucy were very reassuring, kind, understanding, professional and completely able to show they have my puppy in their capable hands by taking a lot of time to assess the puppy’s situation, explain options for treatment, and the care requirements I will need to support her recovery. And I have never, ever, seen a cleaner and more calm and welcoming clinic in any kind of facility. I’d encourage anyone who thinks their animal needs a highly qualified, independently practicing specialist’s opinion to go to Coast Veterinary Referrals, where care is plainly the priority.

5 stars isn't enough for this practice. My dog needed surgery after an RTC. Rob explained everything to me beforehand. He was very thorough in his examination and assessment. All the staff were so kind. Communication was fantastic throughout. Amazing team

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for looking after my toy poodle Maddie. Rob removed her metal plate back in September and I’ve just got around to saying thank you! She is thriving and running around like a loony! She just did a 5km walk around Scotney Estate! Thanks so much for your kind care and attention. Many thanks, Karin Reynolds

Everyone at Coast has been so understanding, patient and professional. Rob took his time to really identify what was going on with our dog Casper, as he had multiple pain points. After identifying the best route forwards our pup had patella surgery. The surgery has gone really well and Casper is recovering better than we could imagine. The reception team, nurses and Rob have provided so much information and support we are really grateful ❤️

My energetic six year old Border Terrier, Millie, damaged her left cruciate ligament during lockdown in January 2021. The local vet suggested resting Millie for 6/7 weeks to see it things improved. They didn't so I was referred to Rob at Coast Vet Referrals in mid March. Whilst waiting for the appointment Millie damaged her right leg cruciate chasing a pheasant! Rob examined and X-rayed Millie mid March and confirmed that both cranial cruciate ligaments were ruptured and she had unstable stifle joints. He agreed to perform a bi-lateral TPLO which was fully explained and done at the end of March. The operation was a huge success and Rob and his team are all very professional, caring and kind. Following a 2 night stay Millie was able to stand and discharged with clear instructions on post operative care. Would thoroughly recommend Rob and his team. I don't have pet insurance but the fully itemised cost of surgery was well worth the money as I now have a lively, energetic and crazy border terrier back to full health.
