I was at the Carinal Clinc for 6 weeks and I haven’t a bad word to say about this hospital. Every single member of staff were INCREDIBLE, from the nurses, consultants, kitchen staff to house keeping.Everyone was truly amazing. The food was so delicious everyday & the clinic is VERY clean. The day is very well structured, I started my day with yoga and ended my day with meditation/sound bath with groups in between. The flower arranging and our art sessions brought so much joy to me in my journey & I have learnt skills that will stay with me forever.
I met some incredible people & I couldn’t recommend this place enough. They saved my life and I will forever be grateful for my stay here. Thank you all so so much for everything.

Highly recommend x

The Cardinal is brilliant. It has helped me recover from several serious episodes after being an inpatient there. I first came when I was 23 in 2013 and my most recent stay was during the pandemic. The nurses do vary but overall they are really fantastic, particularly George who is one in a million. He always manages to make me laugh even when I don't want to. The reception team are very understanding, polite and patient, especially compared to the NHS. The inpatient classes have really helped me a lot, particularly Amanda's yoga and mindfulness and Martin's anger management. I have had both Dr deSilva and Dr Macaulay as psychiatrists and they have always listened well but been tough with me when needed. I also was recommended Marie Claire in my last inpatient stay and my life has changed substantially for the better since I have been seeing her for regular therapy. I believe the Cardinal has saved my life a number of times, but most of all, the skills I have learnt from here have enabled me to look after my own mental health and be my own best champion- thank you for empowering me and keeping me going CC team.

I have struggle with my mental health since I was in my late teens. I got to the point where I had lost faith that things could be better, but seeing Dr Daniel Maughan at the Cardinal Clinic has basically changed my life.
I am now nearly 6 months in, and my mental health is the best it has ever been, leaps and bounds on from where I thought I would get.
We are not at a place where going private was an easy decision due to cost, but at every stage it felt that care was taken to keep our spend to what was needed only, and I felt 100% confidence that when there were costs, they were fair and necessary.
I really can't say enough good things. My life is so much better for the care I got here, and I honestly encourage anyone who needs support to consider here.

I was an inpatient back in feb , I was in a really bad headspace but Cardinal clinic was very welcoming especially vasooo and jag , the food and care was amazing , more like outstanding . The only problem was when you run out of money that’s it your care stops but I understand why they did it because they can’t just let you stay or the would have to do that with every other patient. I had my 19th birthday there and the staff are excellent and very caring and the chefs made me a cake . Great service . Anyways I still see dr perera as a psychiatrist and she’s absolutely amazing . Thank you Cardinal clinic you saved my life 🙂

The Cardinal used to be a good place to go. I would go about every year for a week or two respite. The nurses are nice and the food and location are good. Unfortunately they have said that they are accepting more and more disturbed patients because of the failures of the NHS. This has changed the feel of the clinic and they are no longer keen to accept respite patients, because they have a waiting list of patients who will stay longer. This has meant the nurses are really stretched and the medical director Dr Perara seems out of her depth, overworked, really stressed and impatient. Her problems have affected the clinical team too.
Really sad as it was so much nicer than the Nightingale, but it feels pretty much the same now.

went there for an assessment after previously exchanging several promising emails with a therapist who said she worked in the areas i needed help with. when our session concluded i was told that i am “too complex for private therapy,” that working with me would have a “negative impact” on her (the therapist), and that ultimately she can’t help me. didn’t offer any alternative solutions, advice (besides stay on the waiting list ive been on for over a year now and is the whole reason i sought private therapy in the first place), or give me any colleagues’ details who might be better qualified to treat me. the whole thing reeked of incompetence and unprofessionalism. i left feeling utterly hopeless

My doctor chose to ignore my distress and told me to deal with my anxiety myself, which resulted in my discharging myself. No psychologist was allocated to me and I feel deeply let down. The clinic has a way to go before it can claim to be a centre of excellence.
