I have been unfortunate enough to be a patient at the Calvert Practice for a number of years and I cannot believe how bad it is. It is virtually impossible to get an appointment within two weeks if you want to book one in the normal way, despite their web site claiming that this will be within 2 days. If you call at 08:00 in the morning you will usually get the engaged tone for about an hour or so, after which someone will answer you and inevitably tell you 'there are no more appointments left for today'. When you do manage to get an appointment you will be lucky if you see a doctor you know. I have seen about 6 different doctors and cannot say that I have any confidence in what any of them have told me. That is not down to anything other than the fact that I have been misdiagnosed on so many occasions and consequently prescribed medication, which has been useless. I have been suffering for over a year with respiratory and sinus problems and in this time I have seen four different doctors at the Calvert Practice. Each one of them, while being pleasant enough in their manner, have given me diagnoses of Asthma, Viral Infection, Asthma again and Sleep Apnoea. I have spent money on prescriptions ranging from antibiotics, steroids, inhalers, nasal sprays and antibiotic cream but nothing has made the slightest difference, or helped to improve my condition. After what seemed like a battle I eventually managed to get a referral to an ENT specialist. The consultant in the ENT department at the Castle Hill Hospital, Hull examined me this morning and after approximately10 minutes he told me that I have an abnormal adenoidal tissue growth, which is restricting my nasal breathing and blocking my left eustachian tube. He told me that I would need surgery to remove this and booked me in for 'urgent' surgery (urgent is within 6 weeks in the NHS) to cure this problem. So my view of the Calvert Practice has not improved and I am left wondering why it has taken so long for me to be referred to someone who can actually come up with the right diagnosis and recommend appropriate treatment in such a short time. With the added bonus that I wasn't made to feel like I was wasting anyone's time!

UPDATE: After having a biopsy on the abnormal tissue in my post nasal cavity I was diagnosed with a malignant tumour growing in there. This was a rare form of cancer called nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Fortunately It was caught in time. and after a very prolonged and aggressive course of chemo & radiotherapy I can happily say that I am now cured. I was told by my oncologist, at the wonderful Queens Oncology Unit at the Castle Hill Hospital, that if this had not been diagnosed in time then it would not have been curable. Therefore if I had gone along with the Calvert Practice for any longer I would not be here to write this review. Fortunately I am now with a much better GP surgery and the Calvert Practice has been closed. Lets hope the staff there have not been moved elsewhere to practice their incompetence on other unlucky patients.

Staff in the surgery are lovely and cannot fault them but the phone line are not particularly great and hardly any of them seem bothered with helping and don’t care that you have been waiting over a month for an appointment to have bloods booked in and tell you if you don’t heard by 5 working days to call back and they will submit another form or go to the surgery to book it. Then you are given an appointment for August which is a totally of 2 months after your doctor advise you needed them. I get they are busy but why is taken 2 month to have bloods taken !!!

Shower of hit with a side of S. All they do is send my girlfriend to Newington which takes half an hour to go to due to traffic, appointments are always delayed about 20 minutes, literally takes 2 hours out your day for what should be a 10 min appointment it's getting ridiculous.

If I ever ask for an appointment it's always telephone and they don't ever do anything, took 2 years for them to do anything about mental health, there is answer is always go on pills, don't even bother to look into your medical history.

I wondered if i could speak to Jane on the pharmacy team please?

04.12.23 at 4pm. Haxby is a joke you close the calvert centre at 1200 and have done so since April. This means I can't get there to order a repeat prescription. The lass I just spoke to doesn't know what she is talking about. I asked to order an item on repeat prescription she said I had to order it with the pharmacy. She obviously doesn't know we can't do that now. So how do I order my repeat prescription? I'm going to be without Humulin I in two days. Well done haxby I'm going to complain to the CQC about you.
I was advised today by my pharmacist to ring the surgery to chase up my repeat prescription asap. I've been waiting on hold over 40 minutes, constantly being told I'm caller number 3. Haxby you are a joke.

Absolute shambles. After they got an item wrong on my repeat prescription I had to ring the surgery 3 times to chase it up. I rang at 5.10pm and was waiting 15 minutes in the"queue" when the service disconnected. I rang back and waited for over an hour then heard i was first in the "queue", after waiting another half hour I hung up and rang back only to hear a recorded message saying the surgery was now closed. I think that is so rude and unprofessional, don't they realise it's people's health they dealing with.

Complete joke when trying to get an appointment. Even when they ring to say the Dr needs to see you it can be 10/11 days later when you get an appointment.
As for 'on the day' appointments then good luck. Phone constantly engaged and then IF you manage to get through all appointments are gone!
Way too many patients on the books and not enough doctors to see them. Only had locums for the last 2/3 years as no GP is crazy enough to take on the workload.
Would have given zero stars but that's not allowed.
