After watching Eat Britain TV show, I discovered Cafe Gorge is the original cheddar cheese maker In Cheddar. The food is excellent. I had the cheese afternoon tea and my partner had pastie. My afternoon tea is with cheese scone, carmelised onion jam and cave cheddar flakes on top. So delicious ?. Staff was friendly and there is sitting area outside by a stream. It was such a lovely experience. I urge all visitors to check this cafe and the shop next door to buy some cheese and Scrumpy cider. ?

The Gorge Cafe is by far the best cafe in cheddar and must not be missed by anyone visiting. As a local and a regular visitor I can say every time I come here I have a lovely experience. The food is not only the tastiest and delicious I’ve ever had at a cafe, the service is always really quick and the staff are always so friendly. I take all my friends here and they always talk about how good the food and service is. Not only this but it is in the most beautiful location with the river flowing just outside and the stunning view of the Gorge. Cannot recommend enough ❤️. Highly recommend the jacket potatoes and the toasties too ?.

Nestled on the main high street, this charming café stole my heart with its cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. But the real star of the show? Their strawberry milkshake. Creamy, perfectly sweet, and bursting with fresh strawberry flavor, it's simply the best I've ever tasted. One sip and you'll be in dessert heaven. A must-visit for milkshake lovers!

Top notch food served in a clean café, set in dramatic surroundings. We had coffee and cake, and to be fair the sizes of both portions weren't huge, but by the time we'd finished them we were both satisfied.
All the hot food being served looked fantastic too. Other cafés in Cheddar appeared to be mainly of the old school variety (nothing wrong with that), but if you prefer somewhere more contemporary then here would be a good choice.
On the right hand wall as you enter, there are framed photos of celebrities who have been here - which is worth a quick look at.

The outdoor sittings look great and comfortable. Coffee is standard, not much coffee taste in cappuccino and chai latte not really impressed. Will probably try others for the next time.

We stopped here for lunch to take a rest whilst on our hike. Delicious ploughman's! However it's super busy in there, so it's one to eat in and then leave (no need to hang around too long with such a busy restaurant). The waitress forgot our cutlery at first and then brought us two forks, so for sure it's a busy mess in there service-wise!
