Lovely Experience at the women’s hospital. I had my first baby here via C section at the end of March this year and the staff couldn’t have been better. I was so anxious and scared for my surgery but all of the staff in OWL were amazing. The midwife who looked after me and the other women before going into their c sections that day was so amazing I’m gutted I don’t know her name but if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have been as calm as I was going into theatre.
I wish I knew all of their names but the staff in the surgery room were incredible, so kind and reassuring. The midwife Daisy who handled my baby when born was so amazing, her kindness will stick with me for life.
I think it was ward 3 I was in with a midwife named Ella who was so caring and was happy to help/answer any questions I had as a new mum.
I read some horror story reviews on here before my babies birth which really scared me but not all experiences are bad. I couldn’t credit this hospital enough.

Most of the Ward 4 staff lack emotion, empathy, patience and some of the other fundamental skills to do this career, after having a traumatic second c-section I was left feeling neglected, forgotten and often felt like a bother. The pain after a c-section is nothing to laugh about not to mention a second one. I was in a lot of pain, and having my scar felt like contractions all over again, but my concern was met with little care and a lot of attitude, they'll tell me if I need anything I should buzz but when I do buzz it was met with attitude and no form of emotion or empathy, I am writing this still at the hospital because the fear of leaving here not getting full check over and go home to have something terrible happen to me, I am in so much pain but I I clench my teeth and lay down as I wait to get discharged and go home with my son. The other department that looked after me was truly amazing, the induction suite and delivery suite were amazing and even though I had a panic attack in the theatre room, the doctors listened to me and I got to meet my son.

We recently welcomed our baby at QE Women’s, and we were fortunate enough to be cared for by two extraordinary midwives — Elli Sullivan and Leah Moratelli. From the moment we arrived, Elli brought calm reassurance, blending clinical excellence with such natural empathy. Her attention to detail and gentle encouragement meant the world to my wife, especially during those intense early stages of labour.

Leah stepped in seamlessly and supported us through delivery with strength and grace. Her confidence and composure gave us a deep sense of trust — and her kind presence made the experience feel less clinical and far more personal. Both midwives treated us not just as patients, but as people. It felt like having close friends in the room who also happened to be incredibly skilled professionals.

We’ll always remember their kindness and care during this life-changing moment. Thank you, Elli and Leah — you’re absolute gems.

The reason I gave one star is because I got a bed and the staff let me use toilet.
I had a horrible traumatic experience at ward 4 women hospital Birmingham.
I was really worried and anxious before my c section and my worst fear came true when the staff treated me really ill.
I been neglected and disrespected.
I didn't get my medication on time.
I didn't get proper care.i haven't been heard.I really needed someone of my member to stay at night with me but staff didn't let it happen.
Where as someone stayed at night with the another person next to me and she was much stable than me.
That's really unfair and discrimination.
I am very disappointed with the care I received.
I would highly recommend to people please check the reviews of hospital you are going for to be treated respectfully and equally.
There was a student nurse who helped me a lot and did her job better than the experienced nurses.

Very friendly welcoming staff who literally took me to the phlebotomy dept.
No waiting. The blood sucking department shuts at 2pm.
Jon Mills three spikey prehistoric Birds In Trees sculptures in the foyer are truly wonderful to behold.

Midwives lack compassion or any real basic human emotion. Often left without any form of pain relief for 10+ hours after being told you need to stay on top of pain relief. Security doors aren’t answered until ringing fully through about 4 times then there is no check of who you are here to see. Would avoid at all costs

Would give less than 1 star if I could

Absolutely appalling service from Birmingham Women’s Hospital. I am currently 36 weeks pregnant and due for a scan this week. Despite calling THREE times over the past week to confirm the date and time, I’ve been met with the same useless response each time: “We have a backlog, I can’t help, you will be contacted when there is a date.”

No one takes ownership, no one seems remotely concerned, and there is a complete lack of communication or accountability. How is it acceptable to leave someone this far along in pregnancy in complete limbo about a vital scan? It’s stressful enough preparing for birth without being forced to chase basic information that should have been sorted weeks ago.

This isn’t just poor organisation — it’s a total disregard for patient care. I’m disgusted with how I’ve been treated and I would not recommend this hospital to anyone expecting even the most basic level of respect or support.

Had a few days experience on ward 4 - very hit and miss with the staff. Lynn from the night staff was amazing with my partner. Helping with breastfeeding.
Becky and Lewis were amazing, but clearly overworked.

The facilities are a massive let down. The sodexo food was bland. My partner had no blanket for 2 nights and was using towels. This is obviously beyond the nurses control. But down to facilities staff. There was a fault in the fire panel for some days. I'm not sure the FR rating is adhered too as the war wasn't clean.

The induction ward was fantastic - Amy was an absolute hero helping my partner. Ersila birthed our baby and is a militant midwife who needs the credit she deserves. We can't thank you enough for bringing our baby into the world. The facilities in the induction ward was far better than ward 4's. Again this is the facilities team not the overworked nurses on the wards.

Parking charges are horrendous - 20 odd quick for 24 hours on the front car park.
