My father Michael has been a resident at Birchgrove now for close to two years. I couldn’t be happier. The care he gets here is of the highest standard as the staff are all extremely professional, personal, caring and really good. All of his needs are catered for. He throughly enjoys the community spirit they foster with activitiy groups , music groups and has made new friends which keeps him stimulated. I really cannot see that there is a better place for him. It’s five stars all the way.

This place gave my Nan her mobility, confidence, and strength back.

The staff couldn't do enough to support her recovery. When my Grandad visited daily they made sure he also felt welcome, they looked after him too.
This is my Nans words " the staff are all very friendly, caring and compassionate. The food was good, better then the hospital. The Christmas events they had was brilliant and Christmas was good fun and the singers was my favourite.

The building is dated and when my grandad and I called at 8pm one evening when we knew we was going there, they was more than happy to show us the room and answer any questions. After seeing we was worried this wasn't the right place, however in the day it all comes to life.

Residents are up and showered early, they have breakfast in the rooms then all together for lunch either upstairs where it is a little quieter or downstairs in the main room. Then evening meal Nan preferred to be in her room. To eat and watch the tv.
They have doctors in weekly, and have hair dressers, chiropodist and optician that also come into you for a small free.
We have had a great experience at Birchgrove and have even been welcomed back for valentines day celebrations.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire team at Birchgrove Nursing Home for the exceptional care they provided to my elderly friend during his six-month stay. Having been discharged from the hospital before being fully fit to return home, he required attentive care, and the team at the nursing home exceeded all expectations.
Though the décor of the facility may look a bit tired, the care and kindness shown by the team are absolutely second to none. My friend’s physical and medical needs were carefully and fully monitored throughout his stay, and he was looked after with immense compassion and professionalism. Remarkably, he returned home in better health than he has been in years, which is a testament to the level of care he received.
One notable aspect of the nursing home is its practice of "Namaste" care. This philosophy focuses on providing holistic and person-centred care, particularly for those with chronic conditions like dementia. It combines sensory stimulation, gentle touch, and personalised attention. This approach was clearly demonstrated during my friend’s stay, helping him to feel more at peace, comfortable, and well cared for during his rehabilitation.
Once again, thank you to all the staff for their dedication, compassion, and kindness in helping my friend recover and rehabilitate after such a long hospital stay. The care he received has made a real difference in his life, and for that, we are truly grateful.

My 93 years old friend has been staying here for 18 months and she has received a caring treatment, she was feeling relax about it all. There are lots of entertainments and activities for all to participate. And a lovely garden. We became friendly with all staff.

My mother has been a resident of Birchgrove for 2 years and during that time she has been well cared for and the staff are always welcoming and helpful. We had a poor nursing experience at a previous home so I was very cautious when seeking a new home for mum. The senior team will always speak with me if I have any concerns about her and most importantly mum is happy!

My wife stayed at Birch Grove for three months whilst awaiting results of tests for progressive dementia and her decreasing mobility, plus a care package that was also needed to be put into place. She had a very comfortable time and was very well looked after by the superb staff. The surroundings are a little dated but the building does date back to Georgian times, the food is excellent in every way and her room was very comfortable. My thanks goes again to the Manager and all the dedicated staff for all that was done for her.

My mother has been staying here since mid December, she came in under Palliative care program following heart valve Op and was bed ridden from weeks in hospital bed.
I asked for assistance for Physiotherapy and the senior nurse gave me assistance and asked for the GP to assess her and medical care for recuperation program.
After a few months Physio came in to assist me with exercises to get her out of bed and eventually walking and now off she wanders to the park in the sunshine!!
The staff have been absolutely brilliant from the cleaners, kitchen staff all the carers senior nurses and as for the manager Sarabjit well what can I say!!
Its been a pleasure dealing with her she runs a tight ship and nothing is too much trouble and any issues are dealt with swiftly.
All of the staff have been friendly helpful and all seem to really enjoy their roles and helping their patients/ residents as well as their friends family members who visit.
The home organises many activities for the residents and have monthly entertainers come in and the staff put on events such as Xmas Mothers Day Easter and the Coronation which gets the residents together and friends family come too.
I have kept this short but I would not hesitate in recommending Birchgrove Nursing Home and if you want to hear first hand my experiences I would be happy to talk to you directly as would my mother.

My friend is currently staying at Birch Grove. The whole team has been very welcoming, caring and kind. My friend is enjoying a new, fun life at the age of 90, making new connections with the other people who live there while being surrounded by a great professional team. I have trust in the people who support my friend. I am grateful for their kind care and the activities and events for the people who live at Birch Grove. I recommend Birch Grove as a place for people who may be isolated or lonely, as there is always someone close by to keep people safe.
