This was my first visit to this site. Having had my initial appointment at Harold Road Surgery, I was given a follow up appointment with the same doctor here.
The appointment system was easy to follow and I was in and out within 5 minutes and my prescription sent to my local pharmacy.
With Harold Road so heavily over-used it's good to have alternatives to get support

This pathetic attempt of a practice never ever ceases to disappoint... making any kind of meaningful 'contact' let alone having any semblance of 'communication' with this establishment makes finding the holy grail look easy. If you're lucky enough to get a moment of their time the resident doctor's ambivalence is quite simply breathtaking. If you decide to telephone directly and choose to 'hold' and wait in the queue, be prepared for at least a 45 minute stretch, and do not believe the automated message when they say you are the 1st person in the queue, to stay on the line and a receptionist will take your call... They don't. Not even after a 1 hour 25 minute wait..according to my phone records. And if you dial 0 for a callback, do not expect it to happen any time soon. Get on with your day. I needed Salbutamol urgently for acute asthma brought on by severe hay fever, but by the (2nd) time I managed to make contact with the surgery the chemist had closed. So I was told to pop to AnE if I have difficulties breathing. How reassuring.

I have been a happy patient at this practice for almost 20 years but this surgery has now caused me more health problems than it has helped with since Dr. Howie retired & the 'Plaza Group' took over !!! My 12 year old son was prescribed a banned medication for treatment after an ear operation...I was told very abruptly over phone that they were stopping 1 of my major medication but when I asked for explaination he said he didn't have time !!!When you can get an appointment they barely listen & you have to explain even the most embarrassing things very quickly as they become impatient & rush you. Most of the original staff have left & ALL of the original doctors...what reception staff have remained are the only good thing left at this surgery but unfortunately even I am now looking to relocate 🙁

Having recently joined this practise I was concerned about the ratings given and being able to get an appointment when needed.
I have to say though that when needing to make apts for myself and two of my sons in my short spell here. ..despite the reviews... my experience has been a positive one.
My son was seen the same day by the paramedic practitioner Brad (may not have put his title in correctly!) and I have nothing but praise for the time, attention and support he has shown to him. Yes, it may be what he is there to do but previous experience at other practices and Dr's have shown it is not always the case! In 22 years I feel it has been the first time my son has really been 'heard' with what he said.
Both myself and my other son were seen quickly also and treated very well.
Yes it is hard to get through in the mornings as many people are phoning, but on each occasion I've needed to phone I have got through. The staff do their best to find an apt at one of their practises as soon as they can. They have a difficult job to do in a world where we have more patients than Dr's. So I thought rather than only post a review to complain, I would like to offer praise and say well done and thank you to the staff. These guys are no different here to many of the other practices in town in terms of how busy they are.

This practice is awful. They never ever call back when you request a call, you can't get through to get results, they lose information, don't follow up with what they say they will. Its a game of guess who as to who you'll see! Awful. Rather then addressing the issue they send snotty letters, very disappointing!!

I have serious issues with the service from this surgery. I have tried to discuss them with practise staff but the telephone is rarely answered and when it is, the messages I leave are not returned.
Perhaps the problem is best summarised in the phrase on this very website where it refers to a nurse as “…and is a GP all but in name”. Nurses and GPs are *very* different.

The doctors are really good at listening and understanding. ...I know lately it's been hard to get appointment but once you do they are great and so are the reseptionist!
