Bath and North East Somerset recycling AKA Bates, by far the best MRF site I’ve been to. Spacious, clean and quick loading. Kev the forklift driver so helpful and quick at loading, even helps out unclipping the curtains, and Ritz the banksman is brilliant too. Clean toilet facilities which is a bonus.

Site open from early morning, but for waste collections don’t expect to be on site until 07:15 earliest as their own trucks are leaving the yard between 06:00-07:30. There’s space to park outside but double yellows, I don’t think you’ll get any bother at that time of the morning, best to park on the right.

Unless you have a trailer under 14ft you’ll be required to reverse onto sight with the help of Ritz (the banksman) and will be a blindside reverse onto the weigh-bridge. Just be mindful of the Armco barrier next to the weigh-bridge on the nearside and the concrete wall on the offside.

All in all, a brilliant site to load from. From gaining access to site, weighing in and out and loading, 35 minutes
