I have been forced out of Barnfield Hill surgery and cannot make an appointment with a GP of my choosing as I feel that I was getting the service that I require from a GP practice, but after 10 years at the surgery I have had to call time and go somewhere else and not very nice people.

I was a patient with this surgery for 3 years while I lived in Exeter, and had no reason to complain! Really lovely and professional staff who offer a consistently efficient service. Ordering repeat prescriptions was always easy and it was fairly straightforward getting through on the phone. Waits for nurses appointments were long, but that is no fault of the practice. Would highly recommend them!

Generally very good but lately they have backlog and long waiting times to see anyone. I need my leg attended to more than my heart rate

My experience with this surgery has been incredibly disappointing. Upon arriving in Exeter a year ago, I found myself caught in a gap between the surgery and the local diabetes center, leaving me without the necessary support and pushing me towards diabetes burnout, which nearly cost me my life.

Recently, I experienced a seizure and, as per standard protocol, was referred to the diabetes center by the doctor. However, I was told at the diabetes center that my T1D wasn't the cause, despite experiencing a serious spike in ketones and enduring 36 hours of full-body shakes after the episode. This has resulted in a frustrating cycle that I have experienced over and over of being bounced between the two services, with no one providing the necessary care.

This pattern has repeated itself numerous times, leaving me feeling exasperated and exhausted. It seems that the doctor is more concerned with what I have rather than what I need, which feels like systemic discrimination and a lack of duty of care.

One contributing factor is my living conditions, as I am residing in freezing temperatures, living under electric blankets since November has led to me struggling with poor nutrition and limited exercise. Despite spending nearly seven months trying to secure a grant to improve my situation, the doctor refused to sign off on it, despite my efforts to present guidelines and lodge complaints.

Overall, I would strongly advise against choosing this surgery, as my experience has eroded nearly all of my faith in their ability to provide basic duty of care.

I would highly recommend looking for another GP surgery as this one is so bad. I put a complaint to practice manager last summer.. (2023) No response. The receptionists are dishonest and one GP in particular is rude and nasty. The nurses are the only nicest people going for this surgery. I have reported to CQC; they've yet to act upon it. This is appalling for an NHS GP surgery to act this way and just 'fobbing' you off with medications and lack of mental health support.. this surgery has made me so much worse.

By far the best GP Surgery that I have ever visited. Every doctor or nurse that I've spoken with at Barnfield Hill Surgery has been very understanding & considerate of my needs and make every effort to try their best.
I am eternally grateful for everything the practitioners do to help. The reception team are also amazing and go the extra mile to assist the patients. Thank you all ?

The last two years have been challenging for many doctors surgery's. I have always had great care from Barnfield Hill. Phone calls with my GP have always led to face to face appointments. And also hospital appointments when needed. Can't fault them. Also lovely receptionists, who listen and do all they can
