I worked at this Care Home for a year as a maintenance operative. While the carers provided excellent support to the residents, the home was poorly managed, which led to numerous safety risks for the residents. For instance, I was once instructed by management to block a fire door with a broom handle to prevent a resident from leaving her unit—an action I refused to carry out.

Despite the home being a relatively new building, there are significant structural issues. Black mold is growing untreated within ceiling cavities due to the building’s lack of proper waterproofing. Additionally, several fire doors do not function correctly, compromising safety. Shortly before my departure, I was instructed to cease conducting regular fire drills, further exacerbating these concerns.
