My Dad was moved to this amazing home for end of life care. It is impossible to fault the kindness and care he received in his final week. Moreover, all admin was put in place to enable him to fulfill his wish of having his body donated to a medical school. Can't rate this place and the staff highly enough.

Always a joy to visit my friend here. Today spent time in the garden for the first time which was a delight in the warm summer ☀️ quite easy with the good sturdy wheelchair provided. Staff are lovely and very helpful.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food looked good. I had to keep buying nightwear and underwear for my mother as it kept going missing, despite being labelled with her name, room number. 10 nightdresses, 1 pair of trousers, dressing gown and a small throw blanket.. I was told I could look for them in the laundry. Needs updating, very tired rooms. Smells of stale urine most of the time.. rooms dressed smartly when potential residents or families visit but not the rest of the time. Only saw 1 or 2 resident in the communal areas

We as a family were so grateful that the manager was willing to accommodate our dad at very short notice. What we expected to be a respite stay awaiting results and treatment for an undiagnosed extremely painful illness. We finally received the devastating news that our poor dad only had 2 weeks left. From the moment dad moved in the staff were amazing (these not only were our thoughts, but dad's words) the care for dad and the support for us during the hardest time was second to none. The nurses were professional, capable and compassionate and the carers were very kind and efficient and we have some warm and even funny memories of our dad's time here with the staff. Thank you for everything. Xxx

As a resident I have the strong need to reply to Sophie Norris review.

You know little about the situation in Care Homes. Ashridge is just the property of Canford Healthcare or better American Investment firms, who have no experience and are only interested in maximising their profit. If they increase the lease, Canford cuts employees down to a level which is not justifiable. When I arrived at Ashridge, they had 3 carers per ward, now they are down to 2 per ward. You can volunteer to make the situation better instead of pouring your uninformed vile in your review. Or complain to Canford Healthcare about the miserable care/resident ratio.

The management appears in person if you have anything serious to complain about. Destructive chatter is a time-waster. The experienced staff has reason to expect whatever they expect from newbies. The experienced staff is not happy with lazy or delusional know everything better newbies.

The management of this care home are awful! Treat the young staff very differently to the older staff members. One staff member in particular is awful about other members of staff and likes to discuss other people's personal matters with other staff members infront of residents and their families. The care of the residents is good by most of the staff, some you can tell are just there because they need a job and don't actually care for the residents which is a shame and just leave it to the staff who can be bothered whilst they go outside to sunbath etc. Again, they get away with it being an older staff member. Awful place to work for. As for residents, if you have some of the good staff looking after your family member then you'll be ok.

Administration terrible, cannot get a straight answer, especially when you are owed money, however quick to ask for the cash when they are owed it..........wouldn’t recommend
