My mother was physically abused in this home. The police and safeguarding investigations couldn’t get to the bottom of who was responsible for all her bruising after the police taking statements. The safeguarding team assured me that regular checks from then on would be done but by then I had moved my mum out of there. To be fair a couple of the caring staff were really good but most were agency who did not have a clue about any of the residents.the manager Rachel just flannels you with stories about her ‘Nan’ who used to live there if you go to her with a problem. Quite a lot of eye rolling from other staff if you asked for anything.

My mum was in Abbydale for a number of years before she passed away in 2020 , I have seen a number of good staff leave over the time she was in there . I cannot praise the care support staff who looked after mum enough they were wonderful but unfortunately some of them are not there now , if it wasn't for them I would have moved her a long time ago due to the care she received by owners the manager and the trained day staff over the years .a couple of the past managers and nurses were good but they never stayed long.
The care she received in her last days was not good owing to the fact that most of the Permanent staff were off with covid and the care was given by agency staff , I did complain to the manager and social services but nothing came of the complaint all the manager said was the agency staff were very good although how she knew that I'll never know as she never did hands on care with them they were left to work alone seeing to the residents she was sat in the office or lounge .
Over the years I complained many times as being a nurse myself I could see were the failings were, but had faith in the care support both day and nights that my mum was ok . But as covid hit I was not allowed in and had to sit in the porch waiting for her to be brought out to me by agency staff who I have no dought worked in different homes every week . Which I have to admit was not the homes fault .
The number of things that happened over the last years of her life to my mum while she was in their care pre covid due to inappropriate staff being employed is an issue I'll never get over. Her first few years we're fine as the management was spot on but I still had problems with some of the trained staff .
It sounds like I was always moaning but the fact that I do my job well and I am aware of caring for elderly people plays a big factor
I know if I had my time over with my mum again I would have looked for somewhere else although I can't again praise the care support staff who looked after my mum enough and thank them very much for the love and care they gave her while she was there ,i would not recommend this home as the lovely carers kitchen staff etc brought their concerns to the trained staff management etc but most of the time i had to intervene as they were not listened to .

I have a family member reside at Abbydale, i want to say i have been reallyplease with Rachel, she has been really pro active, contacting me, returning my calls and respondi g to emails. This to me is invaluable from past experience of other care homes, communication is a big issue. Thank you Rachel

My Mother was in the Home for 2 years and for a lot of that time we were not happy,I can not fault the full time carer's at all did the very best they could with limited resources and i cant thank them enough for what they did for my Mother,But the Manager and the Owners are only interested in Profit and they seem to use a lot of agency staff who did not seem to know what there duties were which was so unfair on the full time staff sometimes there would only be 1 full time staff on left to manage 3 agency staff,We had numerous problems, IE. My mother not been giving her Meds,Panic button left on the other side of the room,Sat in food for a number of Hours,No running water in her room,He dentures went missing which was never rectified ,They even changed my Mother's Doctor's and chemist to a Clinic and Pharmacy to one in Blacburn without even consulting us and later we found out the Chemist was a family member,Also during Covid we asked many times not just for ourselves but for all visitors could they not build a makeshift seating area where we could sit with our loved ones with Perspex in between us every time the owner said we will review it in a couple of weeks but they never did they just went on about the cost but the amount of Gov grants care home's got during covid ,Instead we had to stand at a window in all conditions with my mother trying to hold a mobile phone to talk to us, The worse thing for us as a Family was that nothing was ever done to stimulate the residents like a sing song together or other little things organised for them,We thought long and hard about removing my mother from the Home but we and my Mum loved the carer's ,The cook's and the Handy man who all spent time with my Mother and made her laugh i will never be able to thank them enough and they go above and beyond with all the residents sometimes having to buy items for residents out of there own Pocket, ,But as for the Owner and Manager I have no time at all for them,If you are thinking of placing a loved one at Abbeydale then rest assured the Care's are Fantastic,The 5 star's are for the staff at Abbeydale,ZERO Stars for the Owner and the Manager,
