I had higher expectations from this place. But it seems more geared towards children - in fact very good if you have children. But a little too basic for adults. It's good that you can buy a ticket that gives you annual access. I ended up buying two so I can come back with a friend in future. The girl in the coffee shop was lovely and attentive. Staff on the front door were less knowledgeable. The building is also a sight in itself.

A really informative day learning about life in Victorian Leeds, the history of medicine, to modern day techniques. As someone that’s worked in the NHS, this was super interesting! I have visited over 10 years ago and really impressed with the changes to the museum. There’s also a coffee shop by the entrance where you can get a hot cup of Yorkshire tea!
The admission ticket also gives you 12 months access at no extra charge!!!

Not what I was expecting!
Entry is less that £12 per person, and the ticket is valid for 12 months.
The staff offer a warm welcome and guide you to the start of the exhibits. The section on amputation and mortuaries was very factual!!
The upstair exhibits offer a different experience to the ground floor exhibits - both, I thought, are interesting.
The exterior of the building is stunning. The museum is very clean and tidy.

It was a good time out. Some great exhibits there. Brilliant for children and child groups. Loads of information. The ground floor old world streets were really good. The 1st floor although loads of items and information didn't have much atmosphere.
I feel that as the museum is in and original very old building they missed an opportunity to show the old equipment set up in a victorian style operation theatre or other an old style ward. I was hoping for a little more of an immersive experience. There were some areas that looked this way, but closed off to general visitors due to school groups.

The exhibition is excellent, but the smell is really bad. I guess it may be part of medicine smell or on purpose for demonstrating the poor condition in the past? I think it should have a warning to people who just finished or want to have food.

There are some workshops for kids. I guess it may be good because the exhibition setting eyesight is quite high, more for adults. The level of knowledge is also technical, not easy to be understood. For normal people, it may be expensive although the ticket allows you to come for a year. It may be more recommended to look for chance, e.g. some workshops or performance, to get in for a look.

To the museum, for long run, I think renting out for some lectures or film playing may be good tactics utilising the place as well as promoting the place.

I came here with my service user who loves learning about medicine. The staff were lovely and offered to hold our bags in their office as we had a suitcase. A ticket lasts for a year which makes it more worth the price plus carers got in free and they offer discounts for students & NHS workers. Our favourite part was the downstairs interactive area going through what it used to be like to live before modern medicine for different people. Although I agree with some other comments it might not be something you go back to often, it was a lovely museum.

Brilliant place. So much to see, very informative. Friendly staff. Really covers just about everything regarding medicine. Great place for adults and children alike. Admission cost is high but when we went the tills were down but we donated the same amount. Well worth a visit if your interested in medicine.
