Having recently moved to this surgery from Glendevon in Teignmouth I’m appalled. Phoned up to get a prescription and was told by reception that midwives prescribe. I doubted this but thought perhaps some of them have done prescribing courses. Had a phone call with midwife 3 days later which was a Thursday who said of course they don’t prescribe. She said she’d email the GP for me. I phoned surgery again on the Friday to see if I could collect a prescription with the weekend approaching. Explained the initial issue about being told to go to my midwife for a prescription and the woman said she’s the reception lead and would have said the same thing. She then sounded somewhat helpful and she’d look into prescription for me and send me a text. I received nothing so I looked on the NHS app to check my notes. No record of my phone call or the pending medication. It’s now a week on and I’ve not had important medication to ensure a healthy pregnancy all because of what seems like untrained and incompetent staff. Not really sure what to do with this being the only surgery in Dawlish. I’ve never even been in for an appointment yet and I am seriously concerned. Tempted to escalate my concerns as this is not safe practice!!!

Was at albany surgery in newton abbot. Came to barton and realised how rubbish albany was. Barton doctors are thorough and generally seem like they give a damn. Also it's easy to get am appointment quickly.

I have been at this surgery for a few years and have had the best care in relation to my health and the receptionists have always been kind and helpful. However, I recently went there as had to pick something up from reception. A label had not been printed out so the receptionist could not find it (but was really nice) so she asked the receptionist next to her who very loudly said to me across reception in front of a very full waiting room 'you can't just pick them up'. This was quite embarrassing because of what it was. I explained to her that my GP had asked me to pick it up and was told to sit and wait whilst she dealt with the queue. She then called me up to the desk looked through my notes and gave me it but said that when I next come in to hand it in, I would have to wait whilst a nurse wrote the label. I had to see a nurse for my appointment so I think she is going to print one out for me. I totally get that reception is really busy but I don't think it's okay to speak to people like that. I found it really humiliating and embarrassing. Also, I do not really get why I was told that I would have to come back and wait for a nurse print it out when it wasn't my fault that it wasn't printed out initially. If it wasn't for my GP being really good, I probably wouldn't go back.
