The medical staff were under the impression that my appointment was to be over the phone, as a consequence I was made to wait over an hour in the waiting room.
I explained the appointment was a face to face not a phone call, as sent to me the previous day.
Also the extent of the medical issue, according the their website would dictate seeing a doctor, which didnt happen.
A blood sample was taken recently, Tutbury practice contacted to say no further action was needed. A few days later local hospital contacted to say there was an issue and further tests were necessary.
If they cant get the basics right, especially after all the "training" the staff undertake, then I am concerned for patient safety.

Having had severe symptoms for a couple of weeks and the antibiotics that I received from the pharmacist having not worked I reached out to the doctors surgery in hope that I would get an appointment with a doctor to discuss my symptoms.
Thankfully I was successful and received a call back from Doctor Salway later that day.
I explained my ongoing symptoms and explained that I also had many symptoms that may suggest that I am going through the menopause. His response was “I haven’t got time for that today, I’ve got two days worth of patients to get through in one day”
And that’s my problem is it Doctor Salway?
At that moment I was a patient of yours that was seeking medical guidance for symptoms that I have been suffering in silence with for months.
And your response is the perfect example of why thousands of woman suffer in silence everyday.
He said “well you’d better come to the surgery then hadn’t you regarding your acute symptoms.”
I saw him later that day, he asked me to produce a urine sample and on my return he was on a call to another patient!
Wow…. Just wow! As if it wasn’t bad enough that he’d completely dismissed my symptoms because “he was too busy to deal with that right now” he then uses my appointment time to speak to another patient and whilst I was in the room!
Surely that goes against protocol?
I’ve never liked the man, his bed side manor is appalling. And I wonder how he is still practicing! Although it may be something to do with the lack of doctors in the NHS!
I will be requesting in future to NOT be seen by this man.
And in the meantime I’m back to suffering with my symptoms for fear of getting the exact same response.

I've never had any problems with this practice and neither did my late husband. Been with them over 40 years. The new system works well for me although I do understand if you're not computer literate it might be a bit tricky, just get a relative or friend to fill the form in for you.

Almost impossible to get a GP appointment, and they will inappropriately direct you to A&E for non-urgent matters to avoid giving an appointment.

On the positive: the nurses that work there are very nice and I believe they may have had a change in receptionists as last time I phoned they were much friendlier, but despite this the practice is still failing in its duties.

Clearly this GP is understaffed and struggling but yet is still accepting new patients, when they cannot meet existing patients needs.

For me the most egregious is I phoned them twice about a referral, both times it was emphasised to me they had zero correspondence in regards to this and had 'nothing to do with it'. Later find they received a letter in regards to this referral that they never passed onto me. A friendly attitude cannot make up for shockingly abysmal GP patient care.

Would give zero stars if I could. My Dad is 84 and housebound with lots of medical issues, but they won't do home visits as he is 'only' housebound and not bedbound. I am his only family and as you cannot make appointments in advance and I work full-time, it is virtually impossible to get an appointment as I can't stay off work on the off-chance we can get an appointment that day.
Another example of their lack of interest, he recently had eye surgery and was given a prescription for eye drops by Derby Hospital which wasn't completed properly. I spent four weeks chasing a replacement from Derby Hospital who eventually told me a new one had been sent to Tutbury Practice within 24hrs of the issue and they just hadn't done anything to action it. They then said Tutbury Practice had been supposed to make a referral for the eye drops to be administered by the nurses, but they hadn't done so and despite chasing it up they still haven't. It's now five weeks since the eye drops were prescribed and I think we'll just give up...

There’s no reason why the receptionist for the Tutbury practice shall wait till she’s finished an email to service me whilst I’m holding my new born and she had the nerve to say just a minute and keep us waiting longer I had a bad back and it was unprofessional I know they don’t train you receptionists like this…

I have always managed to get a same day appt. You do have to ring at 0800 or 1300 and you do have to be persistent. When I've needed a face to face appt it has been offered to me on the day. The reception staff are always helpful whatever the issue and do their best.

This practice is amazing. The Receptionists I have dealt with are all very friendly and helpful. The Doctor I have dealt with (Dr. Lindsay) is so friendly and approachable and never makes you feel rushed. Best surgery in my opinion
