I have been using this GPs for over 20 years, unfortunately last year I found it really hard to get appointments and even speak to someone for help. I must say over the last 6 months I have seen a much better level of attentiveness from this GP.
I don’t like using patch’s to book but now I am used to it, for important things like a recent bout of pneumonia I was seen the same day and the doctor was excellent.
My previous complaints about this practice were the difficulty getting an appointment, never the quality of care - now I understand the system I have not had issues with getting support.
For new comers just get used to using Patch’s to book appointments and make sure you get on by 8 am if you need something same day. I have gone on as late as 9am and still managed to get an appointment.

Great practice. Very good costumer service at the reception staff are professional and polite. Doctors very knowledgeable and have interest in to listen to your health issues. Giving referrals to specialist if needed. Had very good experiences with this practice. Very good British doctors.

Thank you to Nina Smith for the patience listening and understanding of my issues and the thorough tests that she has requested. I am so scared but she was so understanding and patient. The receptionist was very lovely too.

This surgery has unfortunately declined in quality. I rarely leave Google reviews, but the recent level of service has been disappointing. It's become nearly impossible to book an appointment, the reception staff are unhelpful, and in-person consultations are no longer an option—I'm only offered phone appointments. My last interaction with a doctor was particularly unsatisfactory; the doctor was abrupt and dismissive.

I have been a patient at this doctors in all it's guises since 1967 when i was a baby, I remember Dr Hyman, he must be spinning in his grave to see how low it has fallen.

Tried to book an appointment yesterday 6/7/24, option 1 to book an appointment, which was the patches voice booking system, it did not connect but carried on through the options, I ended up with a male receptionist speaking too me, I explained I had tried to use the system but it was not working, it was like talking to a robot who was just reading of a card " you have to book through patches" constantly, regardless of how many times I tried to explain it wasn't working, I eventually explained what my condition was (he did not even ask) and why I needed to see a doctor, i have a possible life threatening condition, I pleaded with him to book me an appointment, but he again refused to book me an appointment, this place is a hazard to your health, no care or empathy with patients and a crazy not fit for purpose booking system, just look at the other reviews!!

It is that bad I registered with another practice yesterday, registration completed yesterday and booked an appointment this morning over the phone.

If you care about your health, please avoid Oakwood Medical Practice because they do not

This practice has become a joke, I have been with them all my life and seen it decline massively since the days of Dr Cohen and Weston. The practice moved to "bigger, better" surgery yet you can still never get an appointment. You are only allowed to request on the day call backs and they are only available at 8am so you have to sit on the phone for at least 40mins to then be told they are all gone. If you go into the practice you will still be waiting 20mins + to get to speak to reception.
I had to eventually go to a private GP for my son and now I have been waiting over a week for this practice to actually issue the prescription he needs. They are doing more harm than good by not providing an adequate service. This practice is not fit for purpose.

Having recently made an appointment for my 87 year old mum (with stage 4 critical kidney failure) to see a doctor for 16:00, I received a reminder text (2 days prior to the appointment) to tell me the appointment was at 16:40. I was hugely surprised and disappointed when on the day of the appointment I received a text at 16:12 to inform me that I'd missed the appointment! When I rang in to query this detail I was told that yes I had missed the appointment and that they had written a "note on mum's file that the patient needs to come in at 16:00". How were we supposed know, pray tell? We had come into the surgery the next day at 7:50 to queue to make another appointment, only to be told it would be a telephone appointment! Shockingly bad!! Bad, especially for sick people in general but even worse for an 87 year old with no means of getting to the surgery by herself!!! I need to take time off work to facilitate this shoddy practice! This is only one of a string of complaints btw...
