Went to Nuffield Gym in Romford. Lucy from the sales team has been very helpful. She gave us a full tour of the facility and answered all of our questions. She was precise with the price which came up to be £77 a month per person for a 12 months contract commitment. Additionally, having a membership benefits to have two hours free in the Romford shopping centre along with selection of classes in the members app.

The facility itself appeared to spacious with variety of rooms and gym activities available. The swimming area had four lanes with a medium pool height. The changing rooms were moderately clean and maintained. We saw personal trainers available on site which we could have a session with once signed up.

Excellent clean gym and spa area. The pools are perfect. Constantly filtered and the clean water makes you feel pleasant to swim. The chemicals used for the pools are without harsh smell and do not cause any irritation to the body.
The staff is outstanding making you feel welcomed.

P.S. Undoubtedly all this efforts is taking money and hard work so the facilities to be kept in that good and clean condition.
Our responsibilities as customers to complaining as less as possible and keep clean especially in the spa and pool area.
I would be extremely grateful if EVERYONE taking a proper shower by using shower products before entering the spa and pools. By this simple habit we could enjoy all together the time we spend almost everyday in Nuffield Health. Thanks for the existence of this place and the cool staff and all cool people I know there.

I’ve been to several Nuffield Health branches, but the Romford Fitness & Wellbeing Gym stands out as the best. The facilities are top-notch, and the gym is always clean and well-maintained.

The staff are friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere that makes working out enjoyable. I love the variety of equipment available, and the layout is designed for optimal convenience.

Overall, if you’re looking for a gym that offers great service and a fantastic environment, Nuffield Health Romford is definitely the place to go!

Decent gym but given the membership fee you'd expect a lot more.

I tend to go in the mornings so the gym is pretty empty. Equipment is clean most of the time and there is enough variety of machine.

The cardio machines have Internet which means you can watch Netflix! Big plus for sure. They are high quality equipment with a lot of functionality to keep you motivated.

There is a really nice swimming pool. The steam room is a big size which is great and the Sauna is pretty small (hardly use it).

They did have two Jacuzzis but they turned them off during peak energy price hike crisis and now seem to be removing it entirely.

You get two hours free parking at the brewery which is a plus.

Decent size changing rooms and lockers require you to bring your own padlock. Showers are pretty clean and shower gel dispensers provided.

All in all, decent gym but I get a discount on membership due to work and still pay around £55. Standard membership is almost £80. You can join David Lloyd for a few extra pounds.

It's more convenience than anything to be honest.

Update - 27/11/23

They recently upgraded parking to digital which is great when it works. However when it doesn't work its an absolute pain. The gym reception don't take ownership and say go to the gate and say you went gym. When you go to the gate the security don't let you through and say the gym staff have to call them. You end up with a bunch of cars honking at you. Best to make sure your parking is sorted before you get into the car.

They replaced the hot tubs with 4 sun beds. What a poor replacement if you ask me. Further backs up my claim of the gym is very over priced for what you are getting. Pay a few extra pounds and you can go to Virgin or David Lloyd which has all of that mentioned here and above.

I have been a member of the Gym club for more than 15 years, however the past 3 to 5 months has been the worse service, changing rooms were occasionally dirty, unhygienic, shower rooms were not cleaned regularly most of the time. Steam room was closed every 2 weeks for long periods.

Nuffield health staff assumed it’s alright to pass on the blame unto the members for their lack of poor service and maintenance of the facilities. Today there’s another notice of sauna room closures. I believe a review of the management and staff is required. I pay above £70 monthly and this is unacceptable.

Advertised as family-friendly, and their staff certainly is friendly and welcoming, however the management is quite the opposite.
Single-parent families and SEN children are not welcomed and not supported. Management has no concept or understanding around children with autism. They would rather make you cancel your family membership (for a fee of course!) or have your disabled child unaccompanied on the gym floor than accommodate that child’s needs (that would require a total of 5 minutes of their time!).
It is not a family-friendly establishment. It is a real shame as we thought we found a place where we could do something together as a family, which could be very challenging with a disabled child. Team members around the pool and reception couldn’t be more helpful and lovely, but you have the management zeroing out all their efforts.
We were very happy there at the beginning, but unfortunately due to the management’s attitude towards families with SEN, that quickly turned into a big disappointment.

Constantly something broken here. Either it’s no hot water, or steam room not working. Tiles are all falling off the pool and in the water. Electronic parking constant issues. School hols/weekends kids playing in the swimming lanes and not the main bit of the pool so you can’t swim. Lifeguards do absolutely nothing. Looking for a new gym this place is a joke for the price.

Ok gym, classes look good but that’s it.

dirty changing rooms (really outdated), insects in showers, tiny sauna, smelly steam room. This is the only Nuffield which closes sauna and steam room a whole hour before closing time, as opposed to 30 mins like Chigwell, Chingford, Chelmsford and Ilford. So if you’re planning on coming after work in the week, then unlikely you can get a proper workout in before going into sauna/steam room.

If you try suggesting something to the manager he speaks to you as if you’re a child. For what we pay, this has to be better. They increase prices whilst taking away other facilities. They told us the jacuzzis were stopped due to high energy prices and cost of living, then they completely removed them and increased membership fees!?

Management is very very poor, he has no business acumen and it’s clear employees agree but they can’t do anything about him. I once asked if I gained 50-100 signatures asking for some simple changes would he consider and he said no.

Due to high price and extreme dissatisfaction from the service you’re paying more for, it’s absolutely not worth it, hence one star.

I will be more than happy to come back and edit an update if they actually listened to every single member who complains!
