It’s upsetting as I have had some really good experiences with this GP surgery in the past. The nurses/phlebotomists I have seen have been brilliant and my usual doctor is absolutely fantastic too. Very thorough, friendly and gentle. However, I have had a couple of consultations which were particularly undermining, rude, sexist and discriminatory - using language such as being ‘complicated’ and ‘making a classic school girl error’ (felt rather undermining and sexist). Mental illness must be taken just as seriously as physical health & the language used to describe unwell patients feels incredibly shocking and outdated, as well as making those who are unwell feel incredibly shameful for it. I feel unsettled and worried to return if needed (but perhaps that was the point, who knows!)

I have been with Hampton Wick Surgery for many years, and only had positive experiences. Most recently, on several occasions, I spoke with an older female receptionist who was blunt, unhelpful and made me feel that I was a nuisance.

Nurse Annabel seemed in a hurry to get rid of me. Despite my efforts to explain my symptoms, I felt rushed and not properly listened to. I left the appointment still feeling unwell and frustrated. I hope the GP can ensure that patients receive more attentive care in the future

My Aunt Recently had the pleasure of visiting Hampton Wick which her experience was nothing short of excellent and she couldn't stop telling me how nice the staff were.
As she's not clued up on technology, I assisted her with booking but managed to get it sorted with ease.
When I took her to the surgery, the reception made her feel welcomed.
Hampton wick is here to understand the community’s needs, which I found great as my GP surgery is abysmal.

Almost felt the need to sign myself up here for the surgery just from witnessing the experience my aunt had.

I went to see Doctor Kate Moore for a consultation today. What a brilliant GP. She listened to me, was thorough in dealing with my worries and reminded me of the old style GP approach we had years ago.
Top marks for this lovely lady.

I would put no stars if I could. This surgery fails its duty of care. They do not care about their patients. They never follow up the "4 working days" rule from their website when you contact them and they ignore complaints. Who is not tired of the nearly two minutes long message from Dr O'Flynn when you call them? The receptionists, who are not doctors, are too noisy when asking about symptoms etc to get a chance to be put on the call list. They are still not fully back to face-to-face appointments. A minimum of three weeks to get a blood test – as they changed their booking system – is a joke. They keep messing up with my prescriptions and do not follow consultant’s recommendations. They do not care that you suffer because you are out of medicine for a couple of days because they didn’t deal with your regular prescription. One partner had a told me off me once as I did not pick up the phone when the GP called me two hours late! I am not glued to my phone and may need the bathroom. I shouldn’t be blamed because the doctor didn’t not respect the appointment time. I needed a supply of my medicine for my holidays abroad. I spoke to two doctors a month before, I messaged the surgery several times explaining the deadline with the pharmacy and for one week I went to the surgery every single day, nothing was sorted. The receptionists kept telling me it would be done on the same day. It is very worrying that a surgery cannot get the right medicine or give you medicine on time as well as not calling back... AVOID!!! CQC rated them inadequate.

Called today at 10.10am receptionist Rude kept putting me in hold. Would not make me a telephone call back. Then at 10.30 she said l had run out of time for a morning call back. I have made a complaint. This surgery has let my husband down and now me. Going to move surgery

Hello,

This actually from Linda's husband Steve.

For a week I had a sore throat and started coughing up orange goo.

This is just to say that having toughed it out til today I rang the surgery and got through on a small wait. The receptionist got me a GP call back. I must have been triaged high as that came in 10 minutes with a request to visit. I did and saw a great lady GP (the one who went to Rio) and although not megaworried she said to have some antibiotics.

So this is just to say thank you. I am sure you get a lot of negative feedback about the awfulness of the NHS and today hasn't changed our view of its shaky position. But may I give you this positive feedback. Walking home with the antibiotics 2 hours after getting out of bed!! 🙂Wow 🙂

I am a great believer in the NHS and of course you know I worked for the NHS / London University cancer area for my whole life.
