Dr Johanna FitzGerald has gone over and above to help me. Incredibly supportive and thorough. Receptionists work hard and always very helpful on phone. Great system where can get appointment same day if need to. I used to live in London and would never ever get this type of service. THANKYOU

Please note this isn't me having a moan about an individual it's their system and how they don't help themselves.

People say the NHS is in terminal trouble well ask yourselves why, this scenario is just about 1 person in 1 surgery, imagine the cascade when you add others.

I visited a doctor at their Lenwade practice on the 21st of October, simply to gain a referral for private treatment as I have medical insurance through work and don't want to waste the NHS time, don't get me wrong the doctor was OK, she recommended an MRI to be arrsnged however she needed to check with another GP of the location of the scan I thought that a bit strange but ok. Doctors words "I'll Get this checked and we will email across no later than end of Tuesday the 22nd,"

Thought this is good, I can get it to Aviva and get the ball rolling on treatment.

Nothing.
Phoned up end of Wednesday the 23rd, was told it's still with doctor and I should get it Friday.

Nothing:
Phoned again Friday the 25th to be told it's still with Doctor and we will red flag it, she's left for the weekend, we will make sure it's with you Monday the 28th.

Mondays gone and nothing.

8 days gone by and no referral
8 days gone by with no treatment started.
4 phone calls to the surgeries taking queue slots, asking for updates, with the referral clogging up the system, wasting people's time having to chase and check.

These days have come and gone, all I want was what I was told I would recieve over a week ago is a simple letter from the doctor stating she has reffered me, press send on the email and that's it, I'm out of the NHS system.

Nope phone call number 5 coming. If you need an appoitment apologies I'm in the queue to waste another person's time tracking the update down to clog the system up.

I'm just 1 person, 1 surgery,

Those of you that think I'm being unfair, I'm not I just want what I was told, I'm not the one holding up the NHS.

Such a poorly run pharmacy.

Things don't take 7 working days (which in itself is nuts) they take up to 10. You go there to collect and they never have anything ready.

The 'manager' is rude and not open to reason. Couldn't manage his way out of a crisp packet.

I am going to talk up this place. Reading some reviews, a few people ought perhaps to be careful for what they wish for. By comparison to my own surgery (outside of this locality), this place is a dream. So, so helpful on the phone. And backed up in person. I spoke to a lovely young lady about my mum today. There is parking too. How people can complain about this, I don’t know. I think they need a strong dose of real life. My Mum’s doctor is excellent too (Emily Carey). From the outside looking in, I am impressed.

I know all GPs and pharmacies are struggling at the moment but good care deserves kudos. I have never had any issues with the GPs and nursing staff here, or the pharmacists - they never make you feel rushed, and I have always felt like my feelings and health is paramount to the team. Is it difficult to get an on the day appointment? Yes. But you’ll find that at most surgeries - there aren’t enough GPs and pharmacists for the people in their catchment areas. For any long standing repeat medication they also do ‘check ins’ with you, to check your medication is at the right dose for you and if you require any further support/medication etc. for someone like myself who doesn’t like to ‘bother’ anyone, this was such a great idea.

To anyone at Mattishall surgery/pharmacy who might read this, I just want to say Thankyou. Working in healthcare is hard at the best of times, but especially in the winter months when sickness numbers increase, you guys are doing everything you physically can and it is appreciated by so many more people than you know.

Over a 6 month period this surgery did more damage to my health than imaginable. I am still affected physically, mentally and financially by the effects of this poor treatment.
I had to leave and join another surgery in order to prevent further detriment.

Have every confidence in the team at the surgery, Dr Kay who has been on my case since October 2021 has seen me through bladder cancer, arranging referrals to NNUH for an operation, chemotherapy and, after care.
Only 4 stars because I believe the reception answers your question as if reading from a script and, its very difficult to get past them. Sorry.
