49 Marine Ave used to be a fantastic surgery a number of years ago. Now to say the treatment is appalling is an understatement. From having blood tests read out from 2020 instead of Dec 2023, to having missing ECG information, to no follow up advise of the doctor then when a complaint was put in, the complaint being ignored. The receptionist who I must say one was lovely and helpful, another one very truthful telling me she was instructed to end the call re any complaints. The worst thing my notes of a doctor fabricated as I complained saying she had read out bloods and I complained when she did not have 2020. This was a complete fabrication as she read out the 2020 bloods as to which I have proof. I can only say for some reason this surgery in the last say 3 years has gone down hill, it was a lovely little surgery that cared but now I can only say id give it below zero.
I actually do not think the receptionist staff are to blame but a little higher up after hearing them instructed to end calls and finding the reception staff helpful. Shame on this surgery when patients need understanding with any worries or concerns re health.
I am putting in a complaint to ICE as further care as my health problems not resolved with no advice and still no bloods from the right year and date with a missing ECG, again not explaining to me what they meant.
It's very sad when a surgery that was so good, a listening doctors, helpful becomes a nightmare to have to deal with.
This doctors surgery shows the health profession up in my opinion, furthermore it lets them down.
Sadly Zero for care and professionalism.

Probably the worst surgery in the north-east.
I received a call from them this morning, I answered and they hung up.
I called back, held for ages then they hung up again.
They finally called back and told me that I needed a prescription following the results of an x-ray and the prescription would be ready soon.
I have been to the chemist twice, they have rung the surgery, I have rung them and finally, as they aren't answering again I went in person and ended up getting nowhere.
I'll just have to hope they manage to sort it out and contact me. .

Lets see if i can get this resolved after this review or a phone call back from the practice manager!!!

Disgrace of a practice. Went for an appointment 2 weeks ago, told nothing was wrong. Told to call back if the issue persisted.

Collectively between me and my partner trying to ring for my self today we have spent 4 hours trying to contact this practice.

Eventually got through explained it was relating to my prior visit. Wasnt offered an appointment, face to face or phone call. I was told someone will ring you back as its an on going issue. 4 hours later i rang back as i still hadnt received a call. To be met with attitude and ignorance from the staff. I never in all my life have been made to feel guilty for contacting a doctors surgery.

Everyone of the staff you speak to are rude, dont want to help, arsey is an understatement, trying to get any form of information from these people is beyond a joke and not to mention you ask a question and you get met with well i dont know im not a doctor.

Dont know what gives these people the right to speak to you like an idiot. Ontop of that, after all the hassle i was told well you need to fill in an anima form, i said whats that. Again no help just go on the website. Rang at 8am and didnt get through till 9.10am aswell as my partner calling. Then i asked well why wasnt i offered an appointment or phone call when i rang this morning. They didnt have an answer, complete was of time.

To then my partner being told someone will ring you back, bare in mind this is her calling back at 3pm. As we still hadnt heard anything for over an hour after id called at 1.30pm.

Then at 4.15 after not receiving a call back i received a message saying your appointment is booked for 10 am tomorrow. Even though i had explained im self employed so cant make daytime appointments. Was then offered an appointment for 4 weeks time.

From start to finish this practice is a shambles, you need to take a day off to get in touch with them, then put up with the people who dont want to do their job when you get through. If your a member of this practice which i have been for 8 years, you will be better off waiting for yourself to get better then trying to get anything off of these.

When you do get to see someone its a complete waste of time, come in with an issue explain the issue. Spend 5 secs looking at you send you away, if it doesnt get better come back. Then when you do come back for the exact same problem you had the last time, they still want to see you in person even though its the exact same issue as before. Never known such an inconvenient service in all my life. Cant diagnose an ongoing issue for 6 weeks over the phone and have to see you again in person for the same issue you had when you originally come in.

Im not naive, nor stupid. I understand antibiotics cant usually be issued over the phone, but when youve explained your situation about work and the fact its exactly the same issue youve been having for 5/6 weeks and already seen someone 2 weeks ago. To not be able to listen to the patient explaining, somethings not going away and its the same issue you had originally over the phone to make a decision to me is a joke. I will swiftly be leaving this practice and advise anyone thinking of joining to keep well away.

Nobody has the time of day for you here.

So from 8am this morning to the last phone call at 4.15pm, and 4 hours of phone calls and waiting trying to resolve something, i am in exactly the same position i was before i rang.

You will also notice that they frequently respond to positive reviews, but dont give a tuppence about apologising or responding to any of the negatives.

Furious about how i was treat and this was handled today, pulled from pillar to post with no help or guidance, nothing resolved after all of this, told to call back in the morning to probably be met with the exact same hassle ive had today. Yous have got to be having a laugh!!!

It's impossible to contact this surgery. I've been calling since Thursday and no one will answer the phone.

They've also sent me a random appointment with no explanation, I can't get through to rearrange it. They messed up my blood tests (again) and are generally incompetent. One of the doctors is incredibly dismissive and rude. I will be moving GP's ASAP, which is a shame because it used to be good.

I moved from Scotland and this is my new doctors surgery. I’ve had two appointments and I got both on the days I called. The reception staff were lovely and very helpful. I would absolutely recommend this surgery to any new prospective patients. The doctors I saw were also helpful efficient and pleasant. Thank you Marine Ave Surgery staff

The negative comments about this practice are alien to me. I have always found the doctors to be very helpful and the reception staff try very hard under difficult circumstances. Well done to all of the lovely staff !
